Track: Cathedral's Carroll is scary fast | LA Times <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>The fact Cathedral's Randall Carroll won Saturday's 100 meters at the Arcadia Invitational is scary because before the race, he told me, "I'm not trying to peak right now." Then he goes out and wins in 10.49 seconds. Carroll, a junior who's a top receiver and defensive back in football, is committed to USC, but he said he still intends to look at other schools. Florida State and Texas A&M are recruiting him, as is UCLA, a school he said he will watch this fall to see how the Bruins do. His track coach at Cathedral, Roosevelt Ivory, said Carroll has been working on strength, and there is lots of room for improvement in his speed department. "These are good meets but not peak meets," he said. "If you peak now, you're susceptible to injuries." Carroll also finished second in the 200. Look for him to win the state in one or both.</div>
