Randall Delgado tried almost too hard to make Arizona's rotation in spring training, tossing out mechanics as he overthrew. A stint in the minors did wonders for the young right-hander, giving him the strike-throwing foundation that has allowed him to pitch so well since being called up. Pounding the strike zone with his fastball and getting San Diego's hitters to chase his changeup, Delgado tossed a three-hitter for his first career shutout, and the Diamondbacks pounded out 17 hits in a 10-0 rout of the Padres on Friday night.
