<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The most recent talk has the Trail Blazers trying to trade Randolph to the Washington Wizards, who are in desperate need of interior scoring. Perhaps in a multiteam deal with Atlanta? Antawn Jamison, who's going into his final contract season with the Wizards, could be part of a deal to offset Randolph's $13.3 million salary for next season. Yes, Randolph's statistics and game are appealing, even if he tends to stop the ball with his back-in dribble. But he still is due an average of $16 million per season for three more seasons.</div> Source: Chicago Tribune
Randolph is a worse defender, not as efficient a scorer, even though he's a better post player, and does give an inside presence. He doesn't help spread the floor like Jamison does, he can't get up and down the court like Jamison, has legal problems, smokes weed, doesn't have the same chemistry with the guys on the team, and his contract doesn't expire after next season. Jamison is also the captain and leader of this team while Randolph would bring negative leadership I suppose you could say to the team. The chemistry and leadership advantages Jamison has in addition to his expring contract doesn't warrant brining a guy just because he can score inside. EG also won't trade for Zach because of his many off-court problems. No thanks....
Man, if this deal goes through, Portland owned this trade. A guy like Jamison isn't worth Randolph. He practicly carried Washington in the playoffs to try and win. He averaged over 40 a game in the playoffs. He was on a misson.
Og15 basically summed it up here. We wouldn't get much in return and it wouldn't make sense to ruin the chemistry we already have here with Antawn Jamison.
While I'm not a big Jamison guy, trading him for Randolph is just silly. Randolph is overweight, a terrible defender, and is known as one of the worst passers in the NBA. On a team where the point guard dominates the ball like Gil, he won't even get his twenty points a night, and given his notorious attitude problems, he might just sulk his rebounding numbers away, too.
