<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Shavlik Randolph hasn't been completely ready to exercise his basketball skills, but he was more than ready to exercise his contract option with the 76ers. The 6-10 forward/center, still rehabbing from surgery to repair a fractured and dislocated left ankle, met yesterday's option deadline by sending a letter to president/general manager Billy King. King confirmed that development in an e-mail response. Randolph, arguably the team's most improved player coming out of last season's training camp, was limited to 13 appearances after suffering his injury Nov. 30 during a practice at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. Team officials have said they anticipate him being ready to play at some point during summer- league commitments in Las Vegas and Salt Lake City. Randolph joined the Sixers in 2005 as an undrafted free agent. As a restricted free agent last summer, he signed a 2-year contract worth $2.1 million that included a $1.1 million player option for the second year. He will again be a restricted free agent after next season. "He's excited about the Sixers' future and is looking forward to being a big part of it," said agent Joel Bell.</div> Source: Philly.com No AI? No superstar trade rumors? No problem, at least we got Randolph.
Good news here. Shav plays so hard for us and brings toughness off the bench. I`m glad we`re keeping him.
I'm not a fan of Randolph. I feel like he gives us the same thing that Zendon Hamilton did a couple years ago, yet King is probably going to resign him starting at 3-4 million a year.
Randolph has some hidden potential that not a lot of people are seeing. He is a GREAT offensive rebounder and he has some post moves. If he can get a lot stronger, and if his post defense improves he could almost be like a Nene type player. He hustles more than anyone on the team too. Im glad were keeping him and looking forward to seeing what he can accomplish.
