The Yankees have a crowded OF right now, sure he'd be great for next year, but who do they dump for Rios today if they got him?

...Rios may have been a nice 2-3 month rental instead of Soriano, but not by much...OPS is nearly identical. Getting Rios was a move that the Rangers needed to make after losing Nelson Cruz to suspension...Rios could not have made much of a difference for the Yanx.

All it could have done was to make someone else expendable in another trade, either now or in the offseason. Not sure the yankees would have gotten anything for Ichiro or Soriano at this point. He was who i would have liked instead of soriano, but at this point there are better options for next year's team via free agency should they want to play around there. My guess is cashman will be lazy again and do nothing....playing ichiro/gardner/soriano for the most part. Unless he is really dumb and brings Granderson back pushing Soriano to DH.

He would have brought, speed, defense, and at 32 provide a transitional type player through next year. I would have DFA' Wells regardless, he is a waste of a roster spot, and I would eat that money because he has no value toward 2014. Cashman has to accept financial hit and move on. He would have made us better and he always hits in Yankee Stadium.

No but it would of allowed for trading Gardner for needs, and opening CF for Williams, Heathcott, Mesa or ????

...but Ichiro and Wells are also inked thru next year.

...meh, I don't think you'll see the Yanx make any more moves till the off season...ARod's situation is a big wild card.

59 I know your right, it's just that I hate giving up on this year, and I know that no one is really giving up, but why spend good money on bad. I just believe you can't win with a RF who has, or will have maybe 8 HR, and less than 50 rbi's. The Arod situation, like it or not, really is the elephant in the room, I hope they have the appeal heard and final judgement by the Winter Meetings allowing the Yankees a clear cut view of 2014.
