The Texas Rangers made the trade for Geovany Soto official on Tuesday morning, acquiring the catcher from the Chicago Cubs along with cash considerations for minor league pitcher Jacob Brigham and a player to be named later or cash. To make room for Soto, catcher Yorvit Torrealba has been designated for assignment. Soto is expected to be in uniform for Tuesday's game with the Los Angeles Angels.
