The New York Post says the Rangers have interest in the St. Louis Blues' Chris Stewart. That's interesting because the Blues have interest in Ryan Callahan, whom the Rangers have placed on the trading block. The Post says Stewart is a size-and-speed skater whose game likely is better suited to Rangers coach Alain Vigneault’s philosophy than to Blues’ coach Ken Hitchcock’s grinding style. Stewart, who has one year remaining on his contract at a cap hit of $4.15 million, began his career with the Avalanche before being traded to St. Louis in a blockbuster deal including Kevin Shattenkirk, Erik Johnson and a first-round draft pick in 2010-11. The 26-year-old had his best season in his sophomore season of 2009-10, recording 64 points (28 goals, 36 assists) as a linemate of center Paul Stastny, an impending free agent who would be the premier center on the July 1 open market and in whom the Rangers would have serious interest in signing.
i'd be all for it. He's been a disappoint for most of his career compared to talent/expectations, but at only 26yo there is a lot of upside.
its a tough call, cally is the only ranger who really puts a hit on the opposition, is stewart a physical player?
i have no idea, i was hoping some of you guys would know thats why i posted, honestly my gut feeling is a bad move, somebody whose on there 4th line and being promoted to there first line to show him off for his trade stock to rise is what im seein. if he was that good in and never lived up to it i doubt we will see it by now hes 26, he makes 4 mil a year. sounds like manny malhortra, i personally feel we can get better for cally. Lets go with what AV feels is best and what works best for his system. cally doesnt fit AV system and is asking for way too much
I'd prefer a package with a first, with something like a first and Boone Jenner. Move Jenner to wing. Stewarts fights but he really doesn't fight the top guys often and when he does, he doesn't do that well. I doubt he could stand up to a Lucic.
Stewart's 6"2 230 26 yrs old to Callahan's 5"11 190 28 yrs old; both RW's and Stewart making a little less money. Stewart has scored 228 points in 373 games while Cally has 250 points in 440 games. Cally doesn't want to play here unless Glen gives him a king's ransom while Stewart's intentions are unknown.
Stewart's rep is when he gets lazy, he's useless. So far, AV has turned around Pouliot's effort. He's playing hard every game now. That was pretty impressive coaching to me.
The way the cally situation is going stewart and something (prospect and/or draft pick) is looking better and better
Let's face it. If they play the Bruins in a playoff series, Stewart would be a really good player to add. If they play the Pens, we're basically screwed since they have no clue how to stop that team.
Interesting that the Blues recalled Jaskin today, I wonder if they're showcasing him for a trade. Maybe they could get Stewart/Jaskin for Callahan/prospect/2nd.
Of course it is. I check out the sportshoolpa board every now and then because this poster over there Johnny gets some pretty good info every now and then and puts it up quick. Stealth threw a little bitch fit when he saw pasta was posting here again, called him a traitor. Lo and behold here's stealth a few days later. As pathetic as it gets.
