"The Rangers announced Friday that Dan Girardi and Brandon Prust each had successful surgery this week.

Girardi underwent successful surgery Thursday to repair his inguinal hernia. Prust underwent successful surgery Friday to repair a labral tear.

They are expected to be ready for the start of training camp.

Girardi led all Rangers defensemen in assists (27) and points (31) this season. He also led the NHL with 236 blocked shots, and ranked 15th in average ice time (24:34).

Prust captured the 2010-11 Steven McDonald Extra Effort Award, voted by the fans as the player who performs "above and beyond the call of duty." The forward established career highs in goals (13), assists (16) and points (29), and was one of four Rangers to have skated in all 82 games this season."
