The Texas Rangers are attempting to complete the sale of the club through a voluntary bankruptcy plan that would fully pay the club's debt to the creditors.

The club has filed a court petition in Fort Worth and will appear before a judge Tuesday to begin what they hope is the process that transfers ownership from Hicks Sports Group to Rangers Baseball Express, the group led by Pittsburgh attorney Chuck Greenberg and club president Nolan Ryan. The timetable would be late June or early July, thereby transferring ownership before Major League Baseball's trade deadline.

The plan would guarantee the lenders all of the $75 million owed by the club itself. All additional proceeds from the sale, which combined with the $75 million could total approximately $280 million, would go to the creditors with no money going to HSG.
