"There's a decent chance the Rangers could be facing a playoff preview this afternoon when they host the Eastern Conference-leading Flyers.

"We cannot look at standings," Rangers coach John Tortorella told the media after Saturday's quick practice. "[However,] players do. I do. But it can't control you."

There's still a decent chance the Rangers will add a defenseman prior to the NHL's trade deadline in eight days. The Oilers placed former All-Star Sheldon Souray, playing this season with Hershey (AHL), on re-entry waivers and teams will have until Monday to claim him.

Any team doing so will split the $5.4 million salary cap hit Souray carries for this season and 2011-12. The Rangers reportedly scouted Souray, 34, recently and left unimpressed, but general manager Glen Sather said Friday he wouldn't rule out having interest in him.

After a busy day of dealing Friday, two more defensemen were swapped Saturday as the Blues shipped Erik Johnson to the Avalanche and got back Kevin Shattenkirk as part of a four-player trade."
