Traded a 2024 second-round pick and 2025 fourth-round pick, and the Kraken are retaining half of what’s left on Wennberg’s $4.5 million salary.

Not a fan of Wennberg. Doesn't score a lot and isn't good on FO's. Very underwhelming. If this is the move for Drury, he should have done nothing IMO. We'll see if he does more.

Like I said. Drury is the Rangers version of Cashman. Overpaid for a bum

They must not feel all that comfortable with Goodrow and Brodzinski going into the playoffs, which I can understand. I think they end up with Vatrano for a 1st and Robertson or Jones, with $ retained. I still think they should add another 4th liner like Blackwell.

I can totally understand why they would want to add a C, I have no issue with that, I do have an issue with the player Drury targeted. I am not sure I understand what he does well. He's a 12-13 or so goal, 35 points +/- player, and he's bad on FO's.

To your point, I would guess he's going to trade the 1st rounder for a RW, but we'll see.

To give up draft capital like we did for a guy who’s gone after this year and is a sub 50% face off man, this is NOT the move we needed. This was a move for a move’s sake. This doesn’t help us get better in my eyes. If this was the move, might as well have been sellers. Panthers got much better for less. Drury showing why he never should have been gifted this job.

Totally agree. I don't get what Wennberg adds. I guess he is an upgrade over Brod, but that isn't a high bar, and for two picks, I don't get it. There were better C's Drury could have added for those picks, that actually win FO's and would add grit. This is not a good trade IMO.

Yeah, I mean after Henrique though, who was there, Sturm, Middlestadt, Backlund?

    Interesting details in trade.
    -50 percent salary retained.
-fourth round pick in 2025 becomes a third-round pick if Nils Lundkvist gets to 55 points this season.

Lundkvist only has 15 points, so it should stay a 4th round pick in 2025.

Have to love this - huge selling point:

This is his 10th season in the league, and he has reached the 20-point mark every year.

    Amazing...

We'll see. If they feel he can solidify the 3rd line then so be it, move either Goody or Brod down and figure out the 4th line from there. Vesey may end up there by Friday. Don't love giving up a 2nd but can't worry about the 56th pick.

At least Sturm would win FO's for us and is signed for next season. A little lesser player than Wennberg offensively, but maybe a better fit.

With all this said, I will wait to judge Drury until I see what else he does before the trade DL. If he makes a couple of other good adds, it will make things better.

This should move Brod down to the 4th line. I think they'll add a top RW as well. Let's see what else Drury does. I would love to move Goodrow to free up some more $$$, but I expect he'll still be on the 4th line come post trade DL.

Not happy at all if this is the only move. Wennberg no great shakes. If this is it and we go out in 1st or 2nd rd drury needs to go. Since Buffalo is rebuilding give your assets for tuch drury!!

If you want to see what a guy playing for a team he has no interest in playing for looks like go watch Wennberg's highlights/goals for Seattle. Dude hardly reacts when he scores. It's like he's being held hostage. Weird.

To sum this up, I think it will be about the next move. Drury kept his 1st round pick, and prospects he would be willing to trade, plus Seattle retained 50% of Wennberg's cap hit. That leaves Drury with the assets and cap space to add a big fish at RW. If he gets it done, Wennberg could be a decent defensive add and upgrades the bottom 6.

    Maybe Guentzel or Vatrano.

If they get Guentzel that would make things interesting. The price is probably horrendous. Can’t see the pens just giving him away. I guess Wennberg makes the bottom six better at least and he can skate. I can see Drury giving up a first. Hopefully it’s for Guentzel.

Supposedly Dolan has ruled out trading the first cause the draft is being held at one of His properties. If true unless we’re trading the farm not getting anyone big for RW.

Since it's for two playoff runs with Vatrano i'd give up the 1st, but if he were a UFA this year i wouldn't. I'd rather have Buchnevich but it would cost a top prospect also and i don't see the Blues moving him until next season.

That rumor was debunked. If I were to put money on it, Drury will trade the 1st rounder for a top line RW. He has $2.9M in cap space available, and that is a lot considering how little is left in the season.

Would you do a first rounder, Othmann and Jones for Guentzel? That’s probably what would take to get him.
