That tells me a few things. 1. AV already loves Lindberg and wants him on this team. 2. Cally and Hagelin will not be ready for a few games for certain. 3. Boyle has always sucked on wing so they plan to use him as a stop gap at wing, hope Lindberg is good right away so they can dump Boyle's azzzz.
If Lindberg makes the team right out of camp where is he even going to play? The top 3 C spots are already locked up in Step, Richards, and Brassard. Where does Lindberg fit? Does AV move Moore to the wing and play a 4th line of Moore-Lindberg-Dorsett? I think I'd rather have him in Hartford to start, getting used to the smaller rinks and playing 20 min a night (all at C), and ready for when the first injury to a C hits. There will definitely be spots for wingers like Kristo and Fast to open the season but I just dont see any openings at C right now unless we're fine with giving Lindberg 4th line minutes and linemates. Not sure we want to mess around with moving him to a wing and potentially stalling his development when he obviously fits into the long term plan at C. Then again, maybe AV will actually play his 4th line more than 3 min a night. So that might not be such a bad idea to have him there after all.
I fully expect Lindberg to break in as a 4th line, defensive center on the PK unit and taking key draws. He did the same thing in Sweden at first. I think it is pretty clear that Pyatt and Boyle will be moved at some point. Question is what you take in return. Do you go for picks with Boyle or package him with Pyatt and prospect like St. Louis for a 2nd rounder and maybe Bieksa so he can join his buddy out there Torts.
I think if the Stepan thing goes into October we'll see Lindberg on the opening roster, after that I'm not sure either how they fit him in unless they move Boyle, which it dosen't sound like they want to do either. Should be interesting. And have they definately decided Powe/Asham are going to Hartford, if not then there's no room for Kristo or Fast to start either. That's why these 2 year deals they gave all of them were stupid and constraining.
