How would you rank the Big East starters for this upcoming season?

    Here's my take:

    1) Pat White (West Virginia)
    2) Hunter Cantwell (Louisville)
    3) Mike Teel (Rutgers)
    4) Matt Grothe (South Florida)
    5) Tyler Lorenzen (UConn)
    6) Andrew Robinson (Syracuse)
    7) Dustin Grutza (Cincinnati)
    8) Pat Bostick (Pitt)

I think Grothe and Teel could be switched, but neither are overly impressive.

Cantwell pretty high, big expectations? Don't really know much about the guys 5-8.

I very highly doubt Grutza will be starting for UC in the fall. Kelly views him as a #2 guy. If Mauk doesn't win his appeal (and I don't believe he should), I expect Demetrius Jones to be starting.

Teel is not better than Grothe or Lorenzen

Cantwell performed very well while backing up Brohm the past 3 years and could very well be taken in the first round in next year's draft. He's the clear-cut #2 QB in the conference and definitely has the best pro potential out of any BE starters next year, IMO.

Grothe's decision-making is less than stellar. Too many times he leaves you scratching your head, and USF fans will back me up on this. And while Teel made some mistakes at the end of a few games last season, I think, when healthy, he's a solid QB. If he has another season like he had last year, he could be taken in one of the later rounds in the 2009 draft.

Admittedly, I haven't seen Lorenzen play all that much.

I agree that Teel and Grothe make tons of bad decisions, but Grothe can at least get out of the pocket. I've watched UC beat both RU and USF each of the past two seasons by daring both QB's to throw the ball.

In a way, I'm glad Teel can't run. Because if he could, and got injured scrambling, we'd be screwed. Maybe not so much this year with Natale healthy and Paul-Etienne improving. But watching Lovelace fill in for Teel last year when Mike couldn't go was painful. We almost lost the Pitt game because Teel wasn't able to play the second half and Jabu was forced to take the snaps the rest of the game.
