All the ones I gave were PGs/lead guards. Edwards is solidly a SG. I should've included:
Dejounte Murray (19 Sep '96), although I imagine people would rank him last, despite him playing very well this year (and being probably the best defender).

Luka too good for such lists? There is also Jamal Murray 1997 that can be considered young guard.

    Young
    Morant
    Fox
    LaMelo
    Shai
    Garland
    Cade

    Strictly right now...

    Young
    -------
    Fox
    Shai
    -------
    Ja
    Ball
    -------
    Garland

Can't rank Cade right now and think he also doesn't project to be primary playmaker like these other guys. He's more in the Tatum w/ lesser tools + more passing mold to me.

Might be a little low on Ja, but he's the worst defensively of the bunch (yes worse than Trae by a slim margin imo) and need to see a bigger sample offensively. Jumper looks like it's definitely better though.

Somebody (Zach Lowe?) said LaMelo was (or would very soon be) better than Ja...

So many people think so highly of Fox... And apparently defense doesn't mean shit.

They're very close, but very different players.

Morant's tools are a huge advantage as a scorer / shot creator. I think Ball is the better pure passer, but can't put the pressure on the rim Ja can to create easier passing opportunities.

I like Morant more as a #1, but I see Ball with his size, shooting and defensive ceiling (he's already better than Ja by a good margin) being a better fit as a #2 on a high level team.

None of these guys are good defenders right now.

Cade will clearly the best once he starts playing though imo.

Yup. Ball isn't nearly as quick or able to get to the rim as much.

Just puts the defense in tougher spots more often.

The other thing is last year against GS Ja rose to the occasion, and he did knock Curry out of the playin round. Did well against Utah as well.

Yes. Also, Ja doesn't have the veterans or quality of teammates that Young has had this season and last. Before that Young's Hawks teams were some of the worst in the league. Ja made his team respectable from day 1.
