<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> "I'm just going to work on my game. You never know -- it might be me that has to go." </div> Why does everyone think this means J-Rich is leaving? This is J-Rich's best season and he has been unstoppable lately. There is no good reason to trade him, he plays through injuries, he is clutch, and he can drop 25 any night. Dunleavy, Murphy (I love Murphy's game, but it isn't working. Remember Ike and Biedrins against Utah, that is the future that is good and that works) Foyle, Fisher, and Monty all need to go. Dunleavy takes away Pietrus' minutes and just cannot shoot, and although he goes on about him not being perfect and him needing to work, I see no improvement. Murphy, like I said just doesn't fit anymore, and his game around the perimeter won't work. Foyle, well look at his production in 30 mins vs. Biedrins' in 10. That is so stupid how he and Dunleavy suck it up and put blanks on the stats, yet Monty continues to play them over Pietrus and Biedrins. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Biedrins and Pietrus are given no chances while Monty continues to play Foyle and Dunleavy and bench them when they suck with Fisher running the point. Look at this post right here okay I looked at Pietrus's game log. <font color="#024fa1"><a href="http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/3714/gamelog" target="_blank">http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/3714/gamelog</font></a> ^^Check out those games Pietrus had AS A STARTER before Baron got hurt. Dude scored games of 20, 14, 15, 6, 17, 16, 18, and 23... one bad game, then came the Cleveland game where Baron got hurt. Now check out the games AFTER Baron got hurt with Fisher running the show. 7, 16, 16, 2, 5, 0, 11, 6, 0, 10, 0.... he was HORRIBLE besides two games(actually one since he shot 38% in one of those games). forget the points, check out the FG% in those games... its HORRIBLE with Fish starting except one game vs Sac, and awesome with Baron starting. </div> Did Monty figure that out? He benched Pietrus right after bad games with Dumb Fisher starting. Or Biedrins starting. Look at the difference in production between Biedrins and Foyle: Biedrins played great and was playing with Fisher on the floor which means he doesn't get the ball! But because we lose, Biedrins gets benched. Montgomery is the big problem. He plays stupid, slow, conservative Stanford style offense when we should be running. Remeber last year? Baron had no playbook and we were running an offense were people would move without the ball and create for themseleves. Monty is forcing us to run an offense, and it's killing us as irnoic as it may sound. This team is screwed up and it starts with coaching.
Let me say I agree that we need an upgrade at center and power forward. Basically we need some true position players that can get it done inside and on the offensive glass and play some defense (and catch the f-in pass for once). But there is a reason why Biedrins gets benched. Just look at how many ticky tacky fouls he picks up compared to Foyle. You typically don't want your big guys with 4 fouls going into the 2nd half and even then, you don't want to pick up ticky tacky fouls late in the game where the other team is riding the bonus. I hate Fisher at shooting guard, but he's the only damn guard on our team that can shoot from anywhere and dribble. He'd be a good shooting guard if he were taller and a little bit quicker and shot better off the dribble. We could use Ellis but he's sort of green. I'd still take him over Fisher though. Like Larry Brown says, it's a team game. If your shooting guard can't shoot or dribble, your point guard can't pass, your bigs can't catch or score inside or get the 2nd chance misses, it's just asking for trouble. We don't even play like an organized team either and that has a lot to do with the whole young player streetball mentality, I think. We got one group like Dunleavy who believe in playing the right way, but they suck, and the other like Baron Davis, who has talent, tries to make stuff up as he goes along. That's the not the right way to play ball. I think main reason why we are much worse is that our big men at the center position presents some of the weakest depth in the league. We've got a good point guard rotation if it stays healthy, but guys on the perimeter have to shoot and handle the ball better and find ways to dribble penetrate to make up for lack of inside scoring. I think it might be better just to move Jrich to the small forward spot and get a prototype guard that is above 6'4, can defend, shoot, dribble, is quick. We lack so much quickness on the perimeter aside from Ellis/Pietrus. If we can't dribble penetrate or if Baron at point/Dunleavy at power forward/Fisher at shooting guard are the only guys who can do it, then we just suck. That's why I pray for Monty to just play freakin' Ike. I could care less if Murphy sat on that bench. He doesn't do anything to help the team stay honest inside the paint. The last thing we need is more soft defense and guys casting shots from the outside and not being in position to follow their miss.
