<div class="quote_poster">Mamba Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Plus, you'd start a huge controversy. Rap is full of atrocious lyrics that are supposed to be "hot"</div> Weren't you the biggest rap fan on this board? Clearly, when it comes to this list at least, rock lyrics are more mind-numbing.
I was a big rap fan, and then I realized how ridiculously mind numbing their lyrics where. It's either...money, hoes, cars, or i'm gangsta, i'll kill you, or blame it on the white man, it's just disgusting what these artists have done to the genre of rap. Speaking of it, the blame it on the white man argument is utter BS. There are no slave plantations anymore, the only people holding black people back are in fact black people. The majority of sports owners are white? Oh, let's blame it on racism. Yeah, let's throw hard work and dedication right out of the window.
Since it flared back up in the other thread, I decided to make it it's own topic. We've discussed this many times, it's time to officially discuss this. If this gets the slightest out of hand, I'm closing it down. I'll merge all the posts into here.
It depends what kind of rap you listen to, really. There are thousands of great hip-hop songs that don't deal with hoes, cash, etc. You also have to mention rock songs that talk about those topics as well. Your what "blame on the white man" argument are you talking about? Hip-hop is a billion-dollar industry mostly supported by suburban, white teens. And I don't know why the thread title is Rap vs. Rock. Saying which genre is better is useless since it's an opinion-based argument. That's like saying which flavor of ice cream is better: chocolate or vanilla.
