The difficulty with sign-and-trade deals is that the team losing the important free agent has no incentive to go along with it. They don't have to take back anything they don't want. Right now the Suns are weighing some kind of offer from the Knicks (one that presumably doesn't include Fields or Shumpert), with the Raptors either putting together an offer or having made one already. The Lakers are also interested but have less at their disposal, and the Suns don't want World Peace (so to speak). Unknown what the Mavs might be offering but they are another team with some interest.
