Detriot @ Toronto vs Toronto Raptors (21-22) vs. Detriot Pistons (30-16) Friday January 30, 2004 Arena: Air Canada Centre Starting Lineups PG: Jalen Rose (TOR)/Chauncey Billups (DET) SG: Alvin Williams (TOR)/Richard Hamilton (DET) SF: Vince Carter (TOR)/Tayshaun Prince(DET) PF: Donyell Marshall (TOR)/Ben Wallace (DET) C: Chris Bosh (TOR)/Mehmet Okur (DET) Key bench players for Toronto: Morris Peterson, Milt Palacio, Lamond Murray, Robert Archibald, Jerome Moiso and Lonny Baxter. Key bench players for Detriot: Elden Cambell, Chucky Atkins, Darvin Ham, Bob Sura, Zeljko Rebraca and Corliss Williamson. Keys to the game for the Raptors: Get Bosh the ball against Okur: Chris Bosh has the speed advantage in this matchup. Since coming back from injury Bosh has been playing well. Bosh deserves 12+ shots. Bring Ben Wallace out to the perimeter: Donyell Marshall has a good outside shot so he should hang around the 3 point line so Wallace wont be able to block shots and get defensive boards. Contain Billups in the 4th: I dont know how many times I have seen Billups hit game winning shots in the last 2 season so Alvin or Jalen needs to force Billups to make tough shots especially in the 4th. Bench Production: The Raptors will need Mo Peterson and Lamond Murray to score some baskets because Archibald and Moiso are useless, Palacio cant shoot and Lonny Baxter who is a good post scorer is kinda in Kevin O'neills dog house. I think Roger Mason Jr should play against Bob Sura this game, it would be a good matchup. Kid Canada's Prediction: The Pistons are just to strong in the post for the Raptors so they win by 3-5 points. Okur will have 20+ and 10+. This will be a low scoring game. thefranchise3's Prediction: If the Raptors continue to force up jumpers they aren't going to win this game, its that simple. The Pistons are a great rebounding team along with a strong back court: Richard Hamilton and Chauncy Billups. Pistons by 8. Brought to you by Kid Canada and thefranchise3!
^damn...you and thefranchise3 are getting me confused. I say Raptors Lose by 5 + points(no more than a loss of 10) If iw ent for the long shot I would say the Raptors kept it close and won by 2.
I say Raps by 4. Carter should match up well against Prince. Rip vs. Alvin & CHauncey vs. Rose may cause some major problems though....

The Raptors won't even come close if Vince continues his garbage shooting, unless Mo Pete pulls another miracle (like he did against the sixers, to bail Vince out) I definitley see the Raptors losing this one.

Pistons point of view here: http://www.justbball.com/forums/showthread...0581#post170581 This should be a good game. As I said in the preview, I believe that the Pistons will be able to win this game by 7. I just had to replace the link, the one you posted didn't work . They came so close. Vince Carter hit a clutch three with 5.9 seconds left to force the game into overtime. Richard Hamilton pretty much dominated the offensive end for the Pistons in the extra frame, and Ben Wallace had a series of good defensive plays including blocking Vince Carter's attempt to win the game at the buzzer. It was certainly an exciting game, the leading scorer for the Raptors was Vince Carter with 31 points and 6 rebounds. The leading scorer on the Pistons was Rip Hamilton with 28 points and 5 rebounds.
Quote:

DETROIT 90, TORONTO 89 (OT) TORONTO (Ticker) -- Richard Hamilton made amends for a crucial missed free throw by taking control in overtime. After misfiring on a potential game-sealing free throw in the fourth quarter, Hamilton scored all of the Detroit Pistons' points in the extra period en route to a 90-89 victory over the Toronto Raptors. The Pistons had an 82-79 edge with 12 seconds left in regulation after Hamilton - a career 85 percent free-throw shooter - made only 1-of-2 free throws, giving the Raptors a chance. Vince Carter took advantage, burying a 3-pointer with five seconds left to force overtime.
Full NBA.com Recap Box Score
Man oh man. Seems like Vince responded to all your complaints Raptors fans. Tough one to lose though for the Raps as they drop back to 2 games below .500.
Heart Breaking lose .. great effort from everybody .. and at the end, the better team won obviously ! I thought we could've build on that big lead if it weren't for Jalen's turnovers. Alvin, Vince and Chris have all been big tonight !.. I haven't seen this intensity from Mr.Carter for a while, and what about that clutch three, but again , the better team won, so let's put behind our acks and get rid for LA who'll be without Kobe Bryant

Quoting Baller_Deluxe:

Which Rap had the last shot (like the shot that would've won the game)?
Vince took the last shot after he retrieved the ball from a scramble but had ity rejected by Wallace.
Great effort and game. But i say trade Jalen Rose, after every game i hate him even more. He almost gets silly turnovers everygame and has a unforced and silly charge every game that has cost us some important posessions. Also, takes bad shots.
Who would want rose? We wanted him because he was suppost to score but he hasn't been. He plays horrible defense. Move Alvin back to point guard or trade Rose for a overpayed center or point.
AH...I'm pretty sure we didn't get the game out here in the West, sounds like it was a real good game too. I was definately expecting them to lose by 5+. And yeah Chicago had a tough time moving Jalen so it's going to be the same for us, but I dunno, everytime I've watched (albeit I don't get to see a lot of games) Jalen's been pretty good.
Rip is back, damn that's so great to hear. Him, Billups and Tayshaun were in a slump, this is a heartwarming bit of news. Anything that helps a defensive team like the Pistons on the offensive end is always good news for me. Getting two blocks in the last 5 seconds, way to go Big Ben, the Raptors must've felt real lawsy though, one point losses are always the worst. My condolences to all of you Raptors players and fans. Way to go Pistons, that's telling the league why you're one of the best in the East.
Tough loss, Vince did everything we asked him to do and we still couldn't pull it out. Good effort coming back in the fourth...even though we had a good lead in the third, but good effort nontheless. Jalen Rose benched for most of the fourth and OT was a good move for KO, he was doing horrible this game, everything from defence to taking horribly bad shots on offence. KO has to think of doing a zone, he can't be so stubborn to not use the new rules to his advantage, the raptors defence is getting picked apart everytime by doing the same thing over and over. A zone will at least cover the bad defensive play from Jalen and whoever else is scewing us up
wow, what a heartbreaker. i honstly cant say i remember everything bout the game, cuz i was in a bar getting drunk while watching it what i do remember though is jalen giving up costly turnover after turnover. im really hatin on jalen these days. id be happy to part with him and end up with a decent center. maybe we can do something like, jalen, lammond, moiso, and montross. contract to atlanta for theo and terry straight up. obviously the raps come out on top with that deal, but the hawks are lookin to close up shop for the season and un-load some salaries. terry admited he doesnt want to play there, and theo is being shopped around. maybe its wishfull thinkin on the part of a raps fan, but its an idea. either way, its safe to say that jalen's turnovers down the strech pretty much cost us the game. the other thing i remember is vince playing exactly how everyone has been sayin that he DOESNT play anymore. aggressive, takin it to the rack, explosive plays, and most importantly, hitting the shots that matter. he missed the last shot, but hey, if ya gotta get blocked by someone to end a game, no shame in being blocked by the best defensive player in the league. overall, a real solid effort from the raps (jalen aside)
