<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Toronto Raptors announced Friday they have extended a qualifying offer to forwards Matt Bonner and Pape Sow making them restricted free agents. This provides the Raptors with the right to match any offer for Bonner and Sow?s services.

Bonner, 6-foot-10, 240 pounds, averaged 7.2 points, 3.5 rebounds and 18.9 minutes in 82 games with Toronto last season. He was acquired from the Chicago Bulls during the 2003 NBA Draft in exchange for a second-round pick.

Sow, 6-foot-10, 250 pounds, averaged 2.3 points, 2.1 rebounds and 9.4 minutes in 27 games with Toronto last season. He was drafted 47th overall by the Miami Heat and traded to Toronto during the 2004 NBA Draft.

Teams may begin to negotiate, but not sign, free agents on July 1. Upon ratification of the new collective bargaining agreement teams will be allowed to sign free agents beginning July 22.</div>

Good news to us Raps fans! [IMG]

Good news, these guys will be key for the Raps if they want to be playoff contenders in the coming years. Hopefully nobody gives these 2 ridiculous contract offers so we'd have to overpay or lose them.

I don't think anyone will overpay them, maybe Bonner will get some decent offers but Babs will match any offers and the Red Rocket loves T-dot!! As for Sow, he will stay a Raptor.

I hope the Raptors are able to keep both of them, or atleast the Red Rocket. Sow's good and all but Mitchell doesnt give him playing time, so it might be better if he goes somewhere he can get playing time and enough to develop quicker.

Nah man, Sow got more minutes towards the end of the year. He played great, and he will get rewarded with more playing time in 05-06.

Pape actually played some solid minutes in April. He had some very good games for us. Right now, he looks like the best fit for the starting center posistion.

I don't think their's really any other teams going after Pape Sow, but Bonner has been looked at by other teams, and hopefully no one goes and gives him too much money which would not be good for us.

Bonner is a player that is definately useful, he puts effort, and he's great at spreading the floor because he hardly ever misses an open shot.

EH?? even if Pape doesn't get minutes ... he's a rookie and in the new CBA, they could send 2nd year players to the NBADL for development..

Bonner and Sow would be good players to hang on to as long as you don't have to over pay for them.
