<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Without any fanfare, veteran guard Darrick Martin has re-signed with the Raptors. The 11-year NBA veteran penned a one-year deal with the team on Tuesday night, giving the Raptors a full roster of 15 players heading into training camp on Tuesday in Waterloo. Martin, who averaged 2.6 points, 1.4 assists and 0.43 steals in 40 games last season, is valued as a dependable point guard and a mentor to young players on the team. "This is where I wanted to be," Martin said yesterday. "I enjoy the team, the organization, and I think Bryan (Colangelo) has made some amazing changes." Martin, who has known head coach Sam Mitchell for years, going back to their playing days, is excited about the club's potential heading into the 2006-07 season. "I was just saying to Sam, we've got a few more bullets in the gun," he said. "It will be an exciting year." </div> Heres the link. http://www.torontosun.com/Sports/Basketbal...911552-sun.html
Martin should retire already and sign on as an assistant coach or something with the Raptors because as a player, he's pretty useless.

The only reason they keep him is for leadership and as a peacemaker in the locker room. He just takes up another roster spot so it'd be better to sign him as an assistant coach, that would also mean he wouldnt go against our salary cap.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting deception:</div><div class="quote_post">remember martin speaks spanish; i'm certain the raptor braintrust see him as a mentor to caledron</div> Oh good point, I didn't know he spoke spanish. Which definitely helps his role as a mentor for Calderon, as well as clearing up any communication difficulties between Calderon or Garbajosa and the coaches.
