(NBAE/Getty Images) (March 15, 2006) -- The Toronto Raptors announced Wednesday they have signed free-agent guard Andre Barrett to a 10-day contact and placed guard Jose Calderon on the Inactive List. Calderon did not dress for last night?s game at Philadelphia due to left Achilles tendinitis. Barrett, 5-foot-10, 175 pounds, is in his second NBA season. He was released yesterday by the Phoenix Suns after signing a 10-day contract on March 1 and a second 10-day contact on March 11. He appeared in two games with the Suns, totaling nine points and two assists. He had nine points, three rebounds and two assists in 19 minutes March 9 versus San Antonio. Barrett was the top overall selection in the 2005 NBA D-League Draft after not being selected by an NBA team. He averaged 15.3 points and 5.4 assists in four seasons at Seton Hall. Barrett is expected to be in uniform tonight (#12) when the Raptors play host to the Detroit Pistons at Air Canada Centre. Game time is 7 p.m.</div>Good move I guess, Barrett did alright with the Suns and he is a quick player, it will be interesting to see how well he does. He was signed because of Jose being injured.
The Kid looked nice tonight against the Pistons. We lost, but that was almost a given. He had some good quicks and decent ball handling skills. Also he can shoot the three aswell. I hope the keep him aboard he could be a good player off the bench if we are going to lose MJ.
Not to mention he is good off screens and he is very good on the ball. I like this kid. Too bad we will have to part in 10 days.

This is just until Jose comes back. I like him too but Darrick came here to mentor and we are not gonna cut him so Barrett will have to go soon. I wish we had room for him though. I like this kid.
Yep. He should be around until Jose gets back. After that, he will have to leave. Too bad, I like the guy alot.
When is Calderon expected back? If he's not back before the 2nd set of 10 days are up for Barrett, he could be signed for the year. Because teams are only limited to giving a player 2 10 day contracts.

I dont know if we would want 4 pg's on our team roster. And the season is almost over. it wouldn't matter if it were just Mike James and Darrick Martin. But the Toronto Suns aid that he is hoping to return in a weeks time so it should work out fine. I enjoyed Barrett while he stayed though.
