<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Report: Raptors dump Rose's salaryJalen RoseSports Ticker/TSN2/3/2006 4:08:06 PMToronto Raptors' interim general manager Wayne Embry made a major move today, sending Jalen Rose and a first round pick to the New York Knicks in exchange for power forward Antonio Davis. The move is a salary dump for Toronto, which no longer has to worry about paying Rose the $16.9 million salary he is guaranteed next season. Davis is making $13.9 million this year, but his contract expires at the end of the season, which helps the Raptors clear a lot of cap room. The Knicks on the other hand, are slated to pay over $56 million next season to players who are playing less than 20 minutes per game this year or, in the case of Allan Houston, Jerome Williams and Shandon Anderson, not at all. It might be no coincidence that the Raptors pulled the trigger one day after star Chris Bosh pleaded for the re-signing of potential free agent Mike James, who has played very well for Toronto this season. The Raptors got 33 points and 13 rebounds from Bosh in Wednesday's 117-112 victory over Washington, their second in a row and 10th in 18 games after an awful start to the season. James added 29 points and made 5-of-7 3-pointers for Toronto, which is 2-0 on its five-game homestand. The Raptors have won four of the last five meetings with the Knicks after a 2-10 stretch in the series. While much of the season has been a dismal one for the Knicks, they provided their fans a reason for optimism with six straight wins to start 2006. However, a 129-103 loss here January 15 ended the run and kicked off an embarrassing slide. Including that setback, New York has lost nine of 10 games to fall behind Toronto and into last place in the Atlantic Division. Five of the losses have come by double digits and the club may have bottomed out with Tuesday's 130-97 loss at home to the Los Angeles Lakers. While the Knicks got Davis back from his five-game suspension, they lost coach Larry Brown to an ejection and lost their fans at some point during Lakers star Kobe Bryant's 40-point performance. The crowd at Madison Square Garden rained chants of "M-V-P" on Bryant, who made three more free throws (23) than the hosts. New York was paced by Qyntel Woods' 15 points and nine rebounds.</div>There is a good, and bad side of this trade.Good:Jalen's contract ends in two years. Davis's ends after this season, clearing up space to re-sign Mike James and/or sign other free agents.Bad:Antonio Davis wanted out of Toronto, that's why he was traded in the first place. Bringing back a player that wanted out will do what good for your team?! And this is sorta cool, Jalen was traded for Antonio 2 years ago as well.
Thats just too weird for me. The Knicks are going nowhere IMO. They need to stop hunting for big names and start building a team.

All NY is doing is hunting down big names and praying that they don't finish in the bottom of the east again.
Concentrate on the 1st round draft pick guys. Especially since how bad the raptors are doing. Can i also add that Jalen's contract expires this year. The knicks will clear space also. Its a pretty good move for the knicks.
IMO, the Raptors made a stupid move especially when JRose was doing playing well for them. ADavis isn't gonna help them much since they already have Bosh, but he might be able to be useful at C. Since Q-Rich has been a big disappointment, I think Larry Brown should start both Crawford and Rose.

He has a good chance to take the 6th man award. I dont think Davis wants to go to canada especially for his old team. I think he doesnt report and goes back to Chicago. Rose probably will start because the knicks are lacking consistent scorers. What i love about this trade is the 1st rounder. finally isiah makes a good move.

They got it in the trade involving VC. And, Jalen's contract expires after next season......Antonio Davis' expires after this season. The Raptors got the better end of this deal financially......also.....the Knicks draft this year looks completely useless. Their first round pick(which would be really high in the lottery), is the Bulls property. They got it in the Curry deal. The Nuggets aren't doing so bad.......it'll be a high pick. Once again, Raps win this deal.<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>IMO, the Raptors made a stupid move especially when JRose was doing playing well for them. Look at it this way, does it really matter about this season for either teams(Raps and Knicks)? They both aren't going to make the playoffs. The Raps wanted either Penny or Davis because their contracts expire after this season. Jalen's expires after next season, as I said before. Davis might not even come because he left Toronto on bad terms before.....and Bosh starts at PF and Villanueva comes off the bench behind him. If Davis does show up(which is a 50-50 chance), he'll start at center and Pape Sow will coem off the bench behind him. And yeah, Q-Rich has been a dissapointment. You can't blame him, the style of play in NY is way different than the play in Phoenix. And, he also lost his brother this year, so he's really distracted.<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>What i love about this trade is the 1st rounder. finally isiah makes a good move.</div> The pick is via Denver. And it's protected 1 through 6. Why would the Raptors trade their first rounder? It's a lottery pick most likely.

Continue your suckiness Knicks. Just means better draft picks for the Bulls this year and next. The Bulls have the Knicks 1st-round pick this year, and if they desire, they can swap 1st-rond picks with the Knicks in 2007.

I think now that Rose has come to NYK, he has received a big leadership role especially since Starbury will probably be out for quite a while with an injury. + I think Q-Rich will be gone 2 come trade deadline. Then it'll be:SF - RoseSG - CrawfordPG - StarburyThat'll be pretty awesome.
