Indonesian authorities discovered 21 critically endangered cockatoos stuffed inside plastic water bottles that an alleged wildlife trafficker was trying to smuggle out of the country. The yellow-crested cockatoos were intercepted Monday at the Tanjung Perak port in Surabaya in east Java. "All the birds were found inside water bottles, which were packed in a crate," Aldy Sulaiman, the head of Tanjung Perak port's criminal investigation unit, told Agence France-Presse. A 37-year-old unidentified man was arrested. He also had a green parrot in his possession. The birds were packed into 1,500 ml water bottles with the bottoms cut off.
