When a guy whose been in the league for as long as he has tests positive for something like this, I think its reasonable to believe the "over the counter mistake" story....you know hes been tested 100's of times and passed them all....if it happens again though, then all bets are off and hes a roider....
i distinctly recall shard speaking about the pressures of living up to the gigantic contract; i wonder if that same pressure led him to roids. of course we're all speculating but i will give a lot of leeway to a class act like shard in matters such as this.
Has he had any injury problems lately? Idunno, I find it odd for any NBA player to be taking steroids, let alone Rashard Lewis. He's such a natural athlete and has few problems on the physical end of the game.
lots of over-the-counter drugs have steroids in them. i had to take an asthma preventative inhaler for years and that contained a small amount of steroid. obviously shard took something that raised his testosterone levels to an unreasonable point, but maybe it wasnt something linked to performance enhancers, thats what it sounds like anyway. pretty harsh by the nba, 1.6 mil is a lot to be fined over.
What I don't understand is why wouldn't he just ask the league before taking an over-the-counter drug or a prescription drug to make sure it's not against league policy? Especially if he didn't mean to cheat or do something to violate any drug testing. It's Shard's fault 110% and he needs to be accountable for it.
