Hahaha, Sheed got the shaft... Blazers, hmm they got some talent down there... Interesting frontcourt players... Ratlif, Rahim and Randolph? Noice. Edit: Person got traded again... hahaha, PACK THOSE BAGS.
I'm speechless. Amazing trade by the Blazers acquiring a much needed shot blocker and getting Shareef to maintain the scoring Sheed brought to the Blazers. Trading one starter for two starters is a great trade off any day. The playoff picture just got a lot brighter for the Blazers, assuming 'Reef and Ratliff fit in.
Wow, this was a shocker. My jaw is dropping as we speak! One of the biggest trades in recent Blazer history! I just can't picture Sheed in a Hawks jersey...
Blazers change of imagine has happened, slowly but surely This was easily the best offer they could of imagined. Abdur-Rahim, Randolph and Ratliff frontcourt could certainly be deadly.
So it did actually happen. And suddenly, the Blazers have a much brighter future. Of course, see you on the bench, Darius.
Wow what a trade! Portland has a true center now in ratliff that can block shots,Shareef is a good player and teammate, Dan can be a back up to Mighty Mouse,. The Hawks part is also good they have a-lot of cap next year. I think person is in his last year of his contract so is sheed and terrell brandon is heading out as well. Too bad for miles tho he was playing very good ball.
I believe it is great deal for the Blazers. I am curious to see how is Rahim gonna play in the 3(?)-spot. The Blazers are not gonna resign D. Davis so Ratliff's addition was a good move as well. As for the Hawks..Sheed will be a FA in a couple of months and I doubt if they are going to resign him so they just made what they desperately wanted: Get a lot of cap space.. The EAST SUCKS...(unfortunately)
Awesome trade for the Blazers, they get rid of Rasheed Wallace, someone they wanted to get rid of and Wesley Person, and in return they get Theo Ratliff, Shareef Abdur Rahim and Dan Dickau. They've got one of the best frontcourts in the NBA now. I hope the Hawks were after cap room, otherwise they just made one of the worst trades ever. Rasheed can walk at the end of the season, and Wesley Person isn't going to make this trade worthwhile. They had good players in Ratliff and Abdur Rahim, and I don't think Wallace will fill in all that well. If the team fits together well, the Blazers have the opportunity to go very far in the playoffs.
I'm going to agree with a lot of you guys and say this was a good trade for the Blazers...They don't lose much scoring with the addition of Abdur-Rahim, and they gain a shotblocker that should compliment Randolph's lack of shotblocking very well....
First off I am opposed to what the Blazers just did. Rasheed Wallace is a good player and worthwhile even with his outbursts. I don't see how Rahim and Ratliff will help the Blazers. They obviously weren't getting the job done in Atlanta, look at their record. But this quote shocks me the most. ?This trades helps the franchise in many ways,? said Patterson. ?We get a younger core of players and can remain competitive in both the Western Conference and the league. Another factor in the deal is that we are also acquiring three players of good character. This trade also gives the franchise salary cap flexibility.? http://www.nba.com/blazers/news/Blazers_Ro...s-99272-41.html This is coming from Ruben Patterson, the guy who had sex with his children's 17 year old babysitter when he was still in Seattle. He has no business talking about anyone's character. People probably thought that his character was good before this incident, so how can he say that the new players' characters are good? Why Blazers? Why?
You are confused, that is Steve Patterson the Blazers president. He is right in what he says. This trade not only helps them improve their team but it helps their overall character which was promised to change.

As far as Atlanta's record, you have to look a little deeper into their situation. The Hawks have gone through the coaching carousel, the player carousel, and they've had a lot of injuries to key players. They were just starting to win games against some of the power houses in the league. The talent has been there, but they just didn't have a chance to learn a coach's system and play together for a full NBA season. But you're right, it will take time for everyone to adjust on the team, but I like the direction the Blazers have taken with this deal.
Are you guys Sick! I was at wrestling tonight in Portland and Rasheed was there along with persons and persons ran up to Rasheed and they left in the middle of raw... Rasheed is a true blazers and did not need to be traded he was one of the only reasons I still liked the blazers... I am truly sick to my stomach I cannot believe this **** he was one of my favorite players and now I will not get to see him play as much. Persons fit into the blazers like no other hitting shots when we needed them how sure are we that these people will? I guess I truly am a real blazer fan! Rasheed was the blazers... now I feel really bad Good Job Nash ***...
This trade surprised the hell out of me. I did think Wallace would get traded before the deadline, but Atlanta was unexpected. They weren't getting anywhere with all those players and all that payroll, so I guess they figured they should just rebuild. We all knew it was a little too late to try to turn things around and make the playoffs, so now they'll probably end up with a top 5 pick in the draft. I wouldn't be surprised if we saw Portland try to also move Davis and even possibly Mouse before the deadline. After this trade, I also don't see Terry staying in Atlanta, I think he'll also be out either before this deadline or next summer.
They are not going to trade mouse... He is the team captain... Also Davis is strong off the bench so there is no point... Also the Blazers are still in the race for playoff spots the playoffs are not for awhile.

That right there automatically says he was going to be traded soon or obviously leave to free agency at the end of the year. Anyways, nice pull for Portland. He will be a huge contributor to the Blazers down the stretch of the season with his ability to score and rebound at a consistent pace. Looks like the Blazers are headed in the right direction. I also hate to see Darius Miles leave the starting lineup after coming over to Portland and making a decent impact, but I guess that gives the Blazers more bench depth.
