Rate, on any scale you want (1-10, A-F), our offseason acquisitons and their performances. Factor in money aswell Doug Christie: 3.7 ppg, 1.9 rpg, 2 apg, 1.29 spg -- 26.4 mpg DeSagana Diop: 2.4 ppg, 5.8 rpg, 2.56 bpg -- 18 mpg Josh Powell: 2.5 ppg, 1.5 rpg, .5 spg -- 12.5 mpg Rawle Marshall: 3 ppg, 2 rpg, 1 apg -- 6 mpg Diop: A- Christie: D Powell: C Rawle: D I'm grading them on their ability, so I don't think Powell is better than Christie he's been performing better (catch my drift?)
Christie - C (Slow start and then the injury...) Diop - B (Sure he blocks, I just want him to score too and hit ft consistantly. He looks Shaq-like at the ft line. But I give him a B for his intensity off the bench and his ability to close the lane.) Rawle - Cant really say since I havent gotten the chance to even see him play. Powell - Same with him, sadly I havent gotten to watch many of the games this season, I hate it tbh.
Diop - A+ I expected this guy to just ride the bench this season and pick up a paycheck like he did in Cleveland. With the way this guy struggled to get a layup as a Cavalier, I would have never expected him to make the turnaround he's made so far, and the scary thing is that he's just starting to come alive. Christie - C If this was 2002, I'd give him an F, but I didn't have any expectations for Christie coming off of three consecutive disappointing seasons. He hasn't been on of the league's premier defenders since 2002, and he never was much of an offensive force, so the fact that he's only putting up a little more than two points per game on a lineup crowded with scorers isn't exactly a shocker. Marshall - Incomplete Marshall was brought in as an undrafted free agent, so the expectations for him weren't exactly that high. All he's had is six and a half minutes of playing time all year, but he was able to put up three points and grab two rebounds in that time. Still, we haven't really had a chance to see what he can do yet, I'm giving him an incomplete grade. Powell - Incomplete See above.
Doug Christie- His ankle has gotten the best of him so far this season, so Christie hasn`t put up that good of numbers, and IMO, he is just done. D DeSagana Diop- Agreed with what VC said, I wasn`t exactly pleased with the signing of Diop at first for a good solid big man. But what hes shown in blocks and rebounds proves we picked up the right man. A As for Powell and Marshall, I haven`t seen much from them, but hopefully Cuban worked some of his magic drafting some good unknown and undrafted players.
B+.... They would get a A but the Doug Christie retirement thing messed that up. I think we got a steal in Diop whos becoming one of the best shot blockers in the game. The Limited time i have seen Josh Powell he has been doing pretty good and is showing signs of dominance on the defensive side of the ball. I havnt really seen Marshall so i cant comment on him. Darrel Armstrong resigning was great because of his leadership presence in the locker room and is helping Devin Harris become a good player. Also not getting rid of any of our main players helped our team chemistry tremendosly and will help alot unlike resent years where Mark changes the team hte the team chemistry sucks(Walker).
Diop-A++++, Steal of the offseason becoming a great shot blocker and a bargin at 3 years 6 million. Doug Christie-F--, Mavericks didnt do there research on his ankle and he has to retie at the beginning of the season. And i bought his t shirt jersey.... Josh Powell-B+, Only a one year contract and showing signs of great defense and great dunking. Rawull Marshall- To early to tell but its only a one year contract to evaluate him.
