    Quote:
While their stated goal is to make some headway in the standings in the NBA's Eastern Conference, president/general manager Billy King has feverishly worked the phones in search of reinforcements by the league's Feb. 19 trading deadline.

There is no evidence King is close to pulling the trigger, but a source confirmed that one of his targets has been former Sixer forward/center Theo Ratliff, now playing in obscurity with the Atlanta Hawks. Ratliff's contract is worth a little more than $10.1 million this season and more than $10.9 million next season, so King would have to offer some type of package or possibly even involve a third team.

Ratliff became an All-Star for the Sixers in 2000-01, and then was traded to the Hawks for Dikembe Mutombo.

Asked about his interest in Ratliff, King just shrugged. But, guesting on "Daily News Live" on Comcast SportsNet, he made it clear he would not make a move out of desperation.

"One thing I don't want to happen is [for the perception to be] 'There's a fire sale,' " King said. "I think if you make a desperate trade right now, next year you [could] look at it and say, 'Gee, we did that trade, and we gave away players, and now we're trying to catch up.' "

Holy ****, if you have Dalembert and Ratliff on the court at the same time....there would be a block party!!!

There were talks about Eric Snow going to Atlanta last year(The Hawks were very interested) so I think it will be Snow+throw in for Ratliff

Yeah, that's what I want thinking about....Probably Tmac would be a throw in because if he retires, he'd come off the cap for ATL.

Theo would give them that defensive presence they had the season the went to the finals, I think out 2 biggest weaknesses right now are pg and center.

Terry/Iverson backcourt may not work well because they are both undersized shooting guards, and i'd prefer Snow running my offense over Terry especially since Iverson is on the team.

Yeah that's the reason they got Snow anyways, to provide some size to their backcourt. It won't be wise to trade him away IMO.

I bet the trade has to have coleman in it since ratliff's contract is big i expect it to be Coleman,Snow, someone else probably a draft pick for ratliff and terry. If that happens.

I would think they want Tmac because if he retires, his contract would come off the cap...And with the New ownership or whatever, they want to clear cap...

I don't think T-Mac will retire, no way in hell will he retire.

I think we need someone better than Tinsley, someone that can also hit some jumpers. [IMG] [IMG]
