    <div class="footer"><span></span></div><div id="articleBody" class="articleBody"><div class="header"><span></span></div><div class="articleBodyContent"><p class="pad">The Ravens trimmed their roster down to the 53 that will enter the 2007 campaign, and judging from the players that made it off the bubble, defense and field position were two topics discussed in the war room.</p><p class="pad">Kickoff specialist Rhys Lloyd, talented free agent linebacker Edgar Jones, and safety Jamaine Winborne survived the cut.</p><p class="pad">Troy Smith was also added as Baltimore&rsquo;s third quarterback. </p><p class="pad">Lloyd did a lot to boost his value in Friday&rsquo;s preseason finale in Atlanta, placing three kickoffs in the end zone and cleanly booting a 55-yard field goal to take a brief lead over the Falcons. The English-born kicker reported to training camp on the last-possible day after dealing with visa issues.</p><p class="pad">&ldquo;He&rsquo;s got a powerful leg, but it's fresh missing [training] camp the way he did,&rdquo; quipped head coach Brian Billick after the game. &ldquo;He clearly has the leg that you're looking for."</p><p class="pad">Jones and Winborne will not only add depth in two crucial positions on the Ravens&rsquo; defense, they will also be regarded for their special teams contributions.</p><p class="pad">A sack-artist out of Southeast Missouri State, Jones gained favor with Baltimore&rsquo;s coaches with his pass-rushing ability. He logged 1.5 sacks in the preseason.</p><p class="pad">With backup Gerome Sapp seeing more time on the field as he plays a safety/linebacker-type of position in some coverages, Winborne is a needed talent on the back end.</p><p class="pad">Smith&rsquo;s addition gives the Ravens a playmaking signal-caller to spot Steve McNair and Kyle Boller, the 2006-Heisman Trophy winner will be able to learn for an entire year under two seasoned veterans. Smith showed flashes of what earned his collegiate credentials in three games of action, but his security on the team was never concrete.</p><p class="pad">The Ravens were also forced to part ways with some familiar faces - a process head coach Brian Billick has called the worst part of his job.</p><p class="pad">Running back Cory Ross, who took over the kick return duties late last season when B.J. Sams went down with a broken ankle, and Brian Rimpf, a seventh-round draft pick in 2004 that started seven games during his time in Baltimore, were let go.</p><p class="pad">A surprise name on the cut list is Evan Oglesby, who had worked with the second team as a cornerback during the offseason. He played in every game last year for the Ravens and was a special teams standout. The fact that David Pittman and Derrick Martin started against the Atlanta Falcons could explain Oglesby's release.</p><p class="pad">"This is one of the toughest cut-downs we&rsquo;ve ever done as a franchise,&rdquo; said general manager Ozzie Newsome. &ldquo;Several players we released today are going to be playing in the NFL this season. Overall, this is the deepest, most-versatile rosters we&rsquo;ve assembled in the last four or five years - and that includes the two kickers.&rdquo;

    Here is a list of the Ravens' final cuts:</p><p class="pad"></p><div class="pad" align="left"><table border="0" class="show_design_border" align="left" bordercolor="#000000"><tbody><tr><td>80</td><td>TE</td><td>Kendrick Ballantyne</td></tr><tr><td>72</td><td>DT</td><td>Anthony Bryant</td></tr><tr><td>14</td><td>WR</td><td>Romby Bryant</td></tr><tr><td>98</td><td>DT</td><td>Atiyyah Ellison</td></tr><tr><td>48</td><td>LB</td><td>Jamar Enzor*</td></tr><tr><td>82</td><td>TE</td><td>Marcus Freeman</td></tr><tr><td>44</td><td>CB</td><td>Willie Gaston</td></tr><tr><td>74</td><td>OT</td><td>Mike Kracalik</td></tr><tr><td>18</td><td>WR</td><td>Damien Linson</td></tr><tr><td>91</td><td>DT</td><td>Keyonta Marshall</td></tr><tr><td>59</td><td>LB</td><td>Joe Martin</td></tr><tr><td>84</td><td>WR</td><td>Clarence Moore</td></tr><tr><td>63</td><td>G/C</td><td>Ikechuku Ndukwe</td></tr><tr><td>25</td><td>CB</td><td>Evan Oglesby</td></tr><tr><td>76</td><td>G</td><td>Chris Pino</td></tr><tr><td>43</td><td>LB</td><td>Ryan Riddle</td></tr><tr><td>69</td><td>OG</td><td>Brian Rimpf</td></tr><tr><td>34</td><td>RB</td><td>Cory Ross</td></tr><tr><td>67</td><td>DE</td><td>Bill Swancutt</td></tr><tr><td>17</td><td>WR</td><td>Matt Willis</td></tr><tr><td></td><td></td><td>*waived - injured</td></tr></tbody></table></div></div></div>
