<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>June 28, 2007 - 9:42 amTacoma News Tribune -Two league sources said the Sonics are calling around the league to gauge interest in guard Ray Allen.KJR-AM radio reported that the Sonics offered Allen to the Boston Celtics for the fifth pick and Theo Ratliff.</div>http://realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/467...len_to_celtics/If Boston decides to pull the trigger on this trade, it would give them Pierce's second option. This answers Pierce's request but it forces Boston to completely give up the rebuilding process they had started. If I'm Boston I do this, despite Ray Allen aging, Boston is only giving up a draft pick and Theo Ratliff. It usually costs alot more to get a heralded scorer like Allen. As for Seattle, it seems as though they are ready to build around Kevin Durant and only Kevin Durant. With the 5th pick they will likely take a young SG like Corey Brewer to replace Ray Allen or they could take Yi Jianlin. I'm very interested to see Danny Ainge's response. (likely responese: no, this rumor is not true [IMG] )

Hm, I wouldn't mind doing this. Allen can put up atleast 20 points a night and gives us a great 3 point shooter. We are losing Theo Ratliffs ugly contract, and the 5th pick.

The Celtics should go for it. I say it's better than a 5th pick, and Ratliff is garbage anyway.

it wouldnt work for the celtics, Allen is not a second option, and you would be getting someone who plays Pierce's position, it would be another dysfunctional season in Boston....

yes, its pretty much official.butI dont like itI think it screws up the celtics because they already have jeffferson and pierce, if they get ray (who is basically another pierce with better shooting), then who willl they give the ball to? do you think they will have good chemistry? lewis and allen didnt even go well and lewis doesn't get as many touches as pierce, so u think this will work? I think not

If Allen will be the 2nd or 3rd option then they could end up overachieving and be a good playoff team.

I think Ray will fit in perfectly and now the C's have 3 good options: PP, Ray, and Al. Right now, Ray will do anything to win.

can't do it, I don't like this trade... it's the worst rumor out of all the supposed rumors and it's true!Ainge must like be the receiver because he just got bent over AGAIN in a trade.but like I had said, the funny thing is, we'll probably be a decent to good Eastern team next year... then the wheels will come off Allen or maybe even Paulat least we did keep AL, Rondo and Green (please spend a buck and buy a clue gerald!)Perk seems motivated too.
