By winning, the Tampa Bay took its fifth consecutive game while moving to 29-11 on the season and, impressively, 16-4 on the road. Jason Bartlett led off for the Rays and homered against A.J. Burnett on the second pitch of the game, giving him his first home run of the season, and Evan Longoria added a sacrifice fly in the third to put Tampa Bay up, 2-0. B.J. Upton singled to open the fourth then stole second. Hank Blalock singled through Burnett on the mound to move Upton to third. Blalock then stole second to set the table for John Jaso, who doubled home both runners. Carl Crawford added an RBI double and Longoria had an RBI single to push the Rays' lead to 6-0. Alex Rodriguez scored on Francisco Cervelli's sacrifice fly in the fourth, and Rodriguez added a home run in the sixth to cut the lead to 6-2. In the eighth, Sean Rodriguez had an RBI double, Bartlett and Ben Zobrist had RBI singles, and Carlos Pena had a sacrifice fly to push the lead to 10-2.
