I love it. I logged about 5 hours in it tonight so far, and that was just fucking around in free roam with a few buddies. I have yet to even touch the story to this game.
Try not to shoot at a varmint or even a person directly in front of your horse. Try to flank. I put a bullet in the back of my horses head and got penalized honor score for it--not to mention I lost a decent horse and am now back to riding the mundane ones.
Also, as with GTA games, try to avoid climbing ledges, long ladders, and precipices without guard rails or walls. It's super easy to step off a ledge to your doom. The mechanics for grabbing onto a ladder are wonky.
How do you get a capture a guy alive? Last time I shot him in the leg and he sort of bent over and my guy went up to him and did some sort of fatality kill to the head, lol.
So I have to buy a lasso, eh !? Lolz, I thought I just could shoot him in the leg a thousand times ;]
You'll get one when you start doing Bonnie's missions. The lasso is great. You can use it to capture animals and to hogtie people. You can kill someone by dragging them though so if you are doing a lot of bounty missions better to tie them up and put them on the back of the horse, otherwise you'll lose your alive bonus.
Awesome! Also, what is that red bar next to the map? I know the blue one is for your horse's stamina.
Couple of more questions: - Is there a proper way to focus on targets? Right now it seems to randomly target enemies. Sometimes it manually targets them other times it looks right on them. Looking for that GTA-style target system. - Is there a way to get in a duel and not get bad deed points? I shot some guy in the head 5 times and everyone freaked out. LOL. I don't really get how that works either. Last time, I just spammed the shoot button, I didn't really use any skill. - How come I randomly get flung off my horse? Even when I'm going fairly slow I'll fly off. - Why am I retarded when it comes to RDR? Usually I grasp games quite easily.
Not to my knowledge, but I could be wrong. To me, it just seems to randomly pick and choose people based on the direction your facing. No idea, I have yet to get in a duel. When you drain the horses stamina all the way down, it'll buck you off. Watch the horses stamina and you shouldn't have a problem. I've yet to get bucked off a horse, and I've logged about 12 hours between single player and multiplayer. Because you're retarded? I dunno.
You get the lasso when you do a mission to wrangle horses with Bonnie and her dad. I believe it's her 4th mission. It's right after you herd cattle (which is a pain in the ass).
