<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (NetsDaily)</div><div class='quotemain'>In this week’s off-season report, we take a deep look at how deep the draft is and who we think the Nets like, divining most of our information from reading the short, but often revealing, comments made by the Nets’ chief scout Gregg Polinsky. We also try to compare this draft with one of recent memory, and take a look at what the Ratner brothers are doing at the Supreme Court.</div> NetsDaily Off-Season Report #9 - Net Income - NetsDaily Blog
I like what I'm reading here. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>So what are the Nets thinking? Here’s one hint, which shouldn’t be a surprise: they want athleticism. It may be their biggest measure, no matter where they pick. Read what blogger Roland Lazenby wrote recently about how Chris Paul-like players are affecting Thorn’s thinking about this draft: “I recently asked New Jersey’s Rod Thorn about the profound changes the NBA is undergoing, and he said there’s no doubt that the move to smaller, more athletic players in a spread floor format is dramatically changing the way the NBA is being scouted and coached. It’s starting to have an impact on how teams draft players. The great success of New Orleans point guard Chris Paul is hastening this change, Thorn said.” Thorn obviously found his Chris Paul-like point guard last February in Devin Harris, but now he needs the rest of the pieces to get to that smaller, quicker lineup.</div> So, we've got a couply pretty athletic big men: check. We've got a good shooting guard: check. We just need more shooters...possibly a big man shooter, who can post up (Krstic, come back!...or how about Hibbert?). Personally, I like Darrell Arthur in fitting this overall profile - he's big, athletic, quick, and can shoot + score. Also, NI, I love the breakdowns of each player they've worked out and talked about.
