<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">RealGM - The Miami Heat, Memphis Grizzlies and Boston Celtics have reached a tentative agreement on a three-team trade according to an NBA source close to the negotiations who spoke with DraftExpress.com's Jonathan Givony. The Miami Heat will receive Antoine Walker via a sign-and-trade from Boston, as well as Jason Williams and James Posey from the Grizzlies. The Grizzlies will receive Eddie Jones from Miami and Marcus Banks from Boston. The Celtics will receive Earl Watson via a sign-and-trade from Memphis, as well as Dorrell Wright or Miami's trade exception. Watson's inclusion in the trade is a new twist to the deal, satisfying their need for a starting point guard. He will reportedly receive the mid level exception.</div> http://realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/368..._head_to_miami/
It's going to be the trade exception I odn't see Miami giving up on Wright because he could turn out to be the best player involved in the deal.
great trade for the Heat, although i don't really want to give up Dorrel Wright. IMO heat will win it all if this trade goes down.
Great trade for the Heat and possibly very good for Boston if they get Wright and not the TE. I've heard Miami absolutely loves Dorrel Wright so I'm not sure they would give him up. Overall pretty good for all teams (assuming Memphis is in rebuild mode).
Wow, if Boston gets Dorrell Wright, then Boston is just going be plain SCARY in the future. Gomes, Jefferson, West, Allen, Green, Perkins, and Wright. Unbelievable. I hope it's a trade exception though, I'd rather see Wright paired up with Wade in the future.
If this is true, the Grizzlies get screwed. The Grizzlies have no need for Eddie Jones. I can't say it enough. He's a poor man's Mike Miller. I'm very comfortable with Shane Battier and Mike Miller as our starting wings, and I don't think Jones should be given the starting job over either. Someone's got to explain this to me from the Grizzlies point of view. Posey alone is more talented than Eddie Jones, so why do we have to give up Williams and Watson as well? I've just got one more thing to say about the Grizzlies' end - we better get Damon Stoudamire. Anyway, the Heat would be absolutely scary if this trade went down. They'll have three legit All-Stars with Jason Williams running the show and James Posey providing the defensive presense. I don't see how they won't win the title.

Thats about the best i can make of it for Memphis.

I mean, I know he's underrated because he's not a scorer and he doesn't get a lot of playing time, but he's on a level above Banks in my opinion. His defense is among the league's best at that position and per forty-eight minutes he's #8 in the NBA in assists per game over players like Allen Iverson, Mike Bibby, Tony Parker, and Dwyane Wade. Perhaps Marcus Banks has as much trade value, but that's soley based on potential, and up until now I have never really considered the Grizzlies a team that needs to rebuild or focus on "potential" players. This is a very interesting direction for Jerry West to go in for a guy who's on the last year of his contract. Memphis has ripped through the regular season the past two years but has struggled in the playoffs mainly because a lack of a go-to-guy, All-Star type player. Pau Gasol is simply not a reliable franchise player, and I feel like the Grizzlies just needed to package him away with some of these guys like Williams and Posey for a go-to-guy, someone who can hit the shot in the clutch, like a Vince Carter or Paul Pierce. I don't think it's time to really tear down the team, adding young "potential" players, and making moves for future cap room. I know that Jason Williams and Earl Watson were on the way out. In fact, I was ready to just lose Watson for nothing. However, I know we could have gotten a lot more. Not too long ago, there were whispers about a Jason Williams for Sam Cassell trade, and then for a brief moment it was Jamaal Magloire. It's a big step down from Cassell and Magloire to half of an Eddie Jones package. I'm disappointed that Jerry West, as great as he is supposed to be, could not negotiate a better deal. I'll take it, because it's better than just losing them for nothing, but I'm still disappointed.
Danny boy does It again If he does manage to get Dorell in this trade then the Celtics future looks scary good.
VC- Just because you've heard rumors about getting Magliore doesn't mean you'll get him. He is being sought after by a dozen or more teams that are trying to fill their center hole...what makes you think that a package similar to this one would pull that off? IMO, New Orleans is looking for a lot more than that. And Sam Cassell? Why would you even want him? Sure, he's a great player, but his career is in it's last chapter, and he's had some serious injury problems. The Grizz aren't going to win a championship anytime in the next 2 years, so trading away pieces for him would be like throwing them away. At least with Banks you have a young player that can contribute now, and will only get better as the team does.

What I said was that Jerry West could have pursued more attractive alternatives, such as Magloire. I think that New Orleans would bite on a Lorenzen Wright and James Posey (and/or Jason Williams) package for Magloire. They are looking for two things in a Magloire trade. They want a legit Center in return, but they also want to pick up a Small Forward. When you look at the legit Centers out there, there are few of Wright's talent level that are both priced reasonably and for sale. As for Small Forwards go, James Posey was one of the best in the league a year ago, before he got hurt. He's easily one of the top fifteen or twenty defenders in the league, and he'd fit into their style of play nicely. This is a team that supposedly had their Magloire-for-the-#7-and-#16-pick ('Nueva and Graham) deal turned down, so it just made sense to me that Jerry West would be able to work out a deal with some of our spare pieces. Sam Cassell may be old, but so is Eddie Jones. The reason why Sam Cassell would be more attractive to the Grizzlies is because we have a hole at the Point Guard position. Eddie Jones is just as talented, but why would a team with Mike Miller, Dahntay Jones, and Kirk Snyder need Eddie Jones? Now we just have a very large logjam at Shooting Guard when we could have a very balanced lineup with Cassell. You may say that the Grizzlies are not going to win the championship in the next two years, but a lot happens in two years. Just look at the Grizzlies two years ago; they were 28 - 54. One year later and they're 50 - 32. Know what the difference was? It was adding James Posey. He came in and added balance to our lineup. He was our leading scorer, our best defender, and probably had a better season than Pau Gasol. If just one acquisition like that has changed a franchise's record that dramatically before, then why shouldn't I think the Grizzlies could accomplish similar results again?
Add this one to the pile of BS rumors created by RealGM. They have retracted the article, so this thread has no meaning. It was nice while it lasted, wasn't it?
Well, they are a credible source. I mean they were the first ones to report Q to New York. Every BBall site reports BS from time to time, including ESPN.

At least we have a little more excitement to look forward to this offseason. Over $5 mill to play with is a handy asset. The man knows what he's doing. Once again (I think I'll put it in my sig) In Danny I Trust!
