Because naturally young fans are what keep the NBA revenue up, kids today are used to the net, ipod, bluetooth, as well as video games, etc etc. Young people today have the world and it's sex and technology in their face as opposed to the generation before it.

Basically young people today want to be entertained in glitter and glamor while San Antonio brings a slow, make-you-grind-your-teeth-while-getting-beat-down style of basketball. It just don't mix with the youth.

Quite simply put, that is why the Spurs are considered bland and boring.

(yet in 10 years no north american franchise has accomplished as much)

Kinda true, but it's simply becuase people want to see fast breaks, alley oops, superstar guards with killer crossovers, and tons of quick action with isoltaion basketball. Spurs are a grind it out, be tough, and win basketball games the way they are supposed to be won type of a team. They play classic bball and thats simply not what an average fan enjoys watching.

I wouldn't mind the Spurs vs. a healthy Miami Heat. At least a team with a post guy. It's just ridiculous for Duncan to get to the hoop easily 10 times a game.

I donno how bball fans cant enjoy watching the great team play of the Spurs...
I can understand the average fan that watches a game for the dunks and glamor but its not what its all about for other fans.

I actually enjoy watching Tony Parker play, he has amazing speed. I also find myself glued to the screen anytime it is crunch time and Robert Horry is out on the floor.

I've never understood the notion of the Spurs being boring. I think the media labeling them boring and constantly reminding viewers the team is boring, eventually brainwashes the majority. You turn on the TV to watch the game and there's already a preconceived notion you are watching the boring Spurs.

The Spurs are anything, but boring. They move the ball around with rhythm, Tony Parker and Ginobili are very creative off the dribble, and their shooters hit timely 3 pointers. The team also gets a lot of hustle plays out Oberto on the offensive glass or rotating over to pick up an offensive charge.

Defensively the Spurs also provide a highlight reel of shotblocking. You can't help but keep your eye on Bruce Bowen, because he always plays on the edge of the rules and he's generally defending the opposing teams best player. Watching an offensive juggernaut go against Bowen is always an intriguing matchup. It's the equivalent of watching a fast ball hitter face off against a fastball pitcher in baseball, or a top notch running back face off against a run stopping defense. It's battle of wills, which all sports fans can appreciate.

Personality wise, you can't really argue with the Spurs being boring. Tim Duncan is pretty reserved in the media spotlight and no one on the team gets in trouble. There's really nothing wrong about it, but the media goes out of it's way to find the drama and spin. There doesn't seem to be any turmoil with this team, and if it does exist, the Spurs sure do a great job of keeping it in-house.

The only drama I can remember was the rift Greg Popovich and Tony Parker had a few years ago.

The series ratings are low because of the fact the Cavs aren't competitive enough yet. They've been dominated in the first two games, and hasn't even been close. This is their first time to the Finals and I don't think they had any idea what to expect.

The Spurs have made the Cavs look boring in the Finals, but I labeling San Antonio boring is unwarranted.

The Spurs are boring because they are so much better than their opponents (at this point) that the game is already decided by half time thus removing the excitement.

spurs are boring mainly because their team has no personality, charisma, or spark...you can be fundamental but still be entertaining.....fans act like they're the only team in history to play fundamentally sound ball on both sides.....the celtics and the lakers of the 80's played the game the right way, but unlike the spurs they had personalities and egos (see Bird, Magic, Kareem, etc.).....that's why I think most people view the spurs as boring.

Exactly, they make their opponents appear boring, because they take away what team's like to do on offense.

Again I agree, the only person who sparks some interest related to the Spurs is Eva Longoria. You just don't hear any off the court interests associated with them. Reminds me of when Pete Sampras was dominating men's tennis. He was also robotic and dry, despite having historic success. He was always in the shadow of Andre Agassi's flamboyant spotlight.

However, on the court the Spurs are an exciting team to watch.
