<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">It must be tough for Paul Pierce, Boston's All-Star guard. The Celtics were just shy of the NBA Finals two years ago, and now they're brutal. Boston has been one of the worst teams in the Eastern Conference this season.

To be honest, I'm not sure what direction the Celtics are headed. That's probably one reason the fans are disgruntled.
Why trade for Ricky Davis? The Antoine Walker trade perhaps you could understand (although I didn't agree with that move). But to get Davis, Boston parted with Eric Williams and Tony Battie -- both hard-nosed, team players who could defend. GM Danny Ainge is trying to sell the future, but fans don't want to hear that for too long. One or two years, maybe -- because fans want immediate gratification.

As far as the Walker deal, I didn't see it personally. I realize the decision-making process -- that the Celtics wanted to build around Pierce as their main guy. But I believe you need two marquee guys to win consistently in the NBA -- and to win titles.

When you look at NBA history over the past 20-plus years, there's only one championship team that had just one superstar: the 1993-94 Houston Rockets with Hakeem Olajuwon. </div>

    More here.

I really feel bad for Pierce stuck on this team. It's a real shame he's going though all this, he's one of the best guys in the league and he's having to sit though this tragedy created by Ainge. He's been doing what a team leader should do, try to give your team a win and give it all he has. I'm happy that atleast he can keep his cool and not complain to the media like T-Mac has done this season, but damn did things screw up fast. Even if Ainge's plan is to rebuild this team, the trades he has made this season doesn't make any sense. You aren't getting any cap room out of almost all the trades he has made, and the only one I liked when it happened was the Ricky Davis one. Now after time it has also shown that it was a mistake and they're really missing their vets. With the way things are going in Boston, I don't even expect to see Pierce with the Celts at the trading deadline of next season. I can't believe Ainge didn't pull a move before the deadline, its hard to believe someone has made so many bad trades for absolutely nothing. I didn't know anyone could manage a team as bad as he has....

There's always a Scott Layden in one form or other.
