The Boston Red Sox have not approached David Ortiz to talk about the future, and even Big Papi himself does not expect the team to do that before the end of October. Ortiz, whose contract expires at the end of the season, is back to posting Big Papi numbers at the plate with the Red Sox. "Nobody from the team's front office has talked to me about a contract or about the future," Ortiz told ESPNdeportes.com Tuesday on the phone from St. Petersburg. "And to be honest, I don't expect them to do so." Ortiz said that he is willing to sit down and hear some offers from the team during the regular season, but thinks it would not be a wise strategy for the team. "At this point we have a good streak going. We are all focused on bringing back the championship to Boston. We don't need any particular distractions, from me or anybody else," Ortiz said.
