Redsox throwing their weight around (dealing prospects for Kimbrel and big money for Price).
    The stage is set.

...fwiw, they could have resigned Lester for a whole lot less last year.

...this is also good news for Greinke and probably Cueto too.

Keeping it short and sweet. Ridiculous contract. Also contains a three year opt out.

Whoopee Do, who gives a flip. Going to be interesting to see him pitch against his old Tampa Bay Team. Rays fans hate the Sox, of course they have still yet to outnumber the Red Sox Fans in the area. Grienke will no doubt draw a ridiculous contract as well. Cueto, got a feeling he should have signed with the snakes.

...didn't know that. Why do teams keep doing this opt out crap?...it never benefits the team, ever. Besides, 3 years from now Price will be 34 near the end of the season...why would a team pay a 34 year old pitcher for at least 4 more years at more than $30 Mil per year?

...when the current contract between MLB and the MLBPA runs out next year, I don't wanna hear any whining from the owners, not if they're giving out ridiculous deals like this.

Vic, I wouldn't bet against it. This is just fucking ridiculous. And ANOTHER asshole team giving out that opt-out clause. $30M for Price can only mean $35M for Grienke. Just stupid.

Ron was right, you could have just resigned Lester for a lot less money & years. I hope Price has as much success in Boston as Sandoval & Ramirez.

WTF? Sorry but even if he wins 20 games/yr, 1.5M per win is insane.

...like the deals or not, at least the Sox are focussing on their glaring weaknesses and are aggressively addressing them...they badly needed a true ace and they got one...they badly needed a closer and they got one.

...I don't care about the money and I don't care about the prospects, all I care about is Championships.
