"On a night they began by watching baseball and otherwise whiling the time away, the Red Wings finished by showing the Stanley Cup champions how hard it is to be the top dog.

After sitting in the visitors room at the United Center on Saturday night while the Blackhawks spent 30 minutes celebrating their 2010 title, the Wings went out and used two goals from Valtteri Filppula and one from Todd Bertuzzi to claim a 3-2 victory and improve to 2-0 after beating the Ducks at home Friday night.

"I thought our guys competed in the third period," coach Mike Babcock said. "With the three penalties we took, we made it a little harder on ourselves, but the guys found a way."

The second line of Filppula, Bertuzzi and Johan Franzen combined for five points."
