" Indians catcher Mike Redmond was removed from the game after the sixth inning with a hip injury.

''It's been something I've had the last couple of weeks, but I don't know how it started,'' Redmond said. ''I wanted to make sure [manager] Manny [Acta] knew in case I had to run the bases. It's fine when I catch, but I struggle when I'm running, and I don't run very fast, anyway.

''But it will be fine. I've been getting treatment, and I'll come in tomorrow for more.''

Acta doesn't think that Redmond needs to miss any time, but that's because he doesn't catch every day and shouldn't be needed until Fausto Carmona's next start. Redmond catches all of Carmona's outings.

''I'm not anticipating that,'' Acta said, when asked whether Redmond would be out for an extended period. ''He won't catch for six more days, when Fausto pitches.''"
