<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Redskins Sign Sixth-Rounder DoughtyBy Gary FitzgeraldRedskins.com June 14, 2006The Redskins have signed their first 2006 draft pick: sixth-rounder Reed Doughty, a safety out of Northern Colorado who was the 173rd overall selection in the draft. In his rookie year with the Redskins, Doughty is expected to compete for a backup job at free safety and play a role on special teams. The 6-1, 210-pounder is regarded as a solid coverage defender who has the versatility to play either safety position.Reed Doughty, wearing No. 37 during Rookie Camp in early May. He now wears No. 23. (Don Wright Photo)At Northern Colorado, a Division I-AA school, Doughty started 46 out of a possible 47 games and finished third in school history in total tackles (466), fifth in career interceptions (14) and eighth in career fumble recoveries (six). In 2005, Doughty led all I-AA players with 159 total tackles (76 solo) and had four interceptions, eight pass deflections and three forced fumbles.Among his many accolades, Doughty was the nation's top vote-getter for first-team Academic All-American honors and was one of 16 finalists for the Draddy Trophy, which is also known as the Academic Heisman. With Doughty signed, the Redskins' front office will turn attention toward signing the remaining draft picks: second-round linebacker Roger "Rocky" McIntosh, fifth-round defensive tackle Anthony Montgomery, sixth-round defensive tackle Kedric Golston, seventh-round offensive lineman Kili Lefotu and seventh-round linebacker Kevin Simon.</div>http://www.redskins.com/news/newsDetail.jsp?id=17687

Reed Doughty wont have the chance to go to the Super Bowl. He wont start unless we are desperate, but I do see us playing him when we need some fresh legs on the feild or if our secondary is really injured or something and he needs to step up.

^ lol yeah But you [Johnny] know Gregg Williams. He doesn't have "starters". We play a 7-man rotation on the line (Daniels, Griffin, Saleve'a, Wynn, Evans, Clemons, Carter), a 7-man rotation at LB (Clemons, Washington, Marshall, Holdman, McIntosh, McCune, Campbell), and now in the secondary he'll probably play guys like Morton, Patterson, Doughty, and Burns in some special occasions.

Subs like you said: Morton, Patterson, Doughty, and Burns. He pops the subs in to give the starters a breather and gets some fresh legs in when he can. I never get nervous when he puts backups in, they usually never screw up, most of the time they actually make a play.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Montgomery, Golston, Simon Sign DealsJune 19, 2006By By Gary FitzgeraldThe Redskins signed three of their 2006 draft picks on Monday, inking fifth-round defensive tackle Anthony Montgomery, sixth-round defensive tackle Kedric Golston and seventh-round linebacker Kevin Simon, the team announced. To create roster space for the draft picks, the Redskins released five players: wide receiver Ron Johnson, defensive tackle Chris Mineo, linebacker Justin Stull, offensive lineman Daniel Martz and cornerback Chijioke Onyenegecha.Montgomery, Golston and Simon join sixth-round safety Reed Doughty as draft picks to have signed so far. Second-round linebacker Roger McIntosh and seventh-round offensive lineman Kili Lefotu remain unsigned.Montgomery, selected with the 153rd overall selection in the draft, is regarded as an athletic lineman who plays well against the run and the pass. The 6-5, 311-pounder is expected to compete for a backup role in training camp.Montgomery played in 45 games with 23 starts at Minnesota and posted 137 tackles, 23 tackles for a loss and eight sacks during his career. Montgomery also collected two interceptions and four passes defended.Golston, selected with the 196th overall pick in the draft, is also expected to be in the mix at defensive tackle. The 6-4, 292-pounder played in 44 games at Georgia, with 30 starts, and had 95 tackles (43 solo), 3.5 sacks and three fumble recoveries.Simon, selected with the 250th overall pick in the draft, is touted as an explosive and instinctive linebacker. The 5-10, 235-pounder is expected to compete for a backup role at middle linebacker and add depth to the Redskins' defense.Simon appeared in 30 games at Tennessee and recorded 237 tackles (139 solo), 5.5 sacks, eight pass deflections and 13.5 tackles for a loss. His college career was cut short by injury, but he turned in a solid senior season, logging 88 stops (40 solo), one sack and five passes defended.</div>http://www.redskins.com/news/newsDetail.jsp?id=17866

Good for them? Late rounders never hold out though cause they have no leverage so this was expected.

Golston and Montgomery are good for depth, but I actually think Simon has a future starting for us at MLB he was a steal IMO.
