Talking about Roy got me thinking about the what if.

1.) What if Roy never had injuries that shortened his career?
2.) What if Oden was never injured and became the player we sought out?

I know a few things would definitely happen.
1.) We most likely would of never had Lillard
2.) Nate probably wouldn't have been fired.
3.) Aldridge may never develop to the player he is today.

Would that big 3 (Roy, Oden and Aldridge) be just as good or better than our current big 3 (Lillard, Matthews, and Aldridge)?

I'm having nightmares of possibly having to witness Lillard destroy us on another team right now! HAHAHA

Who's to say Lillard would have the success he has now if he went to another team? This situation was perfect, it could have taken him another year or two to get to where he was last season if he ended up coming off the bench somewhere.

Regardless... The Question remains the same. Would that big three be better than our current big 3? Plus we would most likely have Nate the coach and Stotts would be somewhere else, so we must take that into consideration as well.

We'd have two championships right now.

I actually could see that. But honestly, I think this current team could be vying for 3 titles of their own.

I don't think it's as cut and dry as it may seem.

I know, I just thought it was funny for you to raise this hypothetical and then claim that Dame would be torching us on another team.

I think we would likely have at least 1 championship, but there's honestly no telling. Dallas probably wouldn't have won in 10-11, I think we would have won that series, and then won it all that year. Stotts would still be in Dallas most likely, same with Casey which means Toronto would look very different as well.

If Oden became the player he was suppose to be, then that "other" team would probably have been better. LMA would have been 3rd fiddle, which is where he belongs. And Roy would probably be the best SG in the game right now.
But I like Lillard and Wes better than everyone on that "other" big 3.

Sure it is. We got fucked by Oden and Roy's injuries. If they didn't, we'd have a fucking dynasty right now. I mean, you can make it seem much better by saying "we have a great team now". But it still doesn't negate the fact that Roy + Oden (healthy) + Aldridge + whatever would probably have meant multiple rings.

Oden would be what 26? He would be completely dominant, a perennial MVP candidate. Roy was all NBA. Aldridge would be the third best player on the team.

I mean they were pretty damn good without oden, he would have pushed them over the top no question.

Aldridge is much better alongside a superstar PG rather than a ball dominant superstar SG. Same with Matthews and Batum.

So, Lillard/Aldridge are better than Roy/Aldridge.

Oden would have been better that Lopez, but not enough to overcome the improvement of the other 4.

Now, this is a little unfair, as I don't know what Roy would have been under Stotts....May have become a completely different player.

One idea is fools gold. There other is a reality. One idea was to get us excited only to put us down on our knees. This idea is concrete, real and full of motion. This is what we have right now. This is what we are supposed to have. And in the end, look at how well they are performing. Look at where they are putting organization. They're contenders. And I think they are some in the organization that really believe this is our year. And who knows it might be and it could be.

The other idea was never going to happen. It just wasn't. Let's sit back and enjoy what we do have now. That's a talented group of outstanding, likeable guys who have a real shot to going the distance.

A healthy Oden would have been the X factor that put that team over the top. I agree, two championships by now and a dynasty.

This team is good, very good, but that one would have been a team for the ages.

no question we woud be just as good if not better than we are now. dont forget wesley was on the team also back then.
we would have found a PG to fit the system by now. PG, roy, batum, lma, oden - wes off the bench....fill in the rest. COULD EVEN OF BEEN LILLARD.... WHO KNOWS IF WE WOULD HAVE TRADED GERALD THO

LMAO That actually would have been funny if we still made the trade with NJ for the Lillard pick.

Dame, Healthy Roy, Batum, Aldridge and a healthy Oden

with Wessy Wes coming off the bench and who gives a fuck about anyone else.

There are not enough shots in a game for all of them to play to their potential, but that lineup would be NUTS!

Nate would still be bringing Lillard off the bench and Blake would have been named starter for life.

And Damien would have spent his career standing in the corner chucking threes.

Top to bottom this team is better because of Stotts alone.

However, if that 09-10 team WAS 100% healthy they win a chip

    Miller / Bayless
    Roy / Fernandez
    Batum / Webster
    Aldridge / Howard
    Oden / Camby / Pryzbilla

Good questions. I've thought about that as well. Of course, there's no real telling what our roster be, but the main rotation would probably be Jack, Roy, Batum, Oden,LA and Matthews. Not too shabby. With the way Oden was developing, we'd have definitely been a power in the NBA, though not a lock to win a title.

The closest we got to see the "big 3" play was in the Houston series, which we lost.

And LA...well, you probably don't want to hear what I have to say about that.

That would have been a mistake IMO. Oden never had the offensive skills that LA has. Yes Oden was expected to be a super star, but IMO he should have been 3rd fiddle on offense. I cringed when we force fed him the ball. We would have been better off if he focused on defense and rebounding, and let LMA shoot the ball with Roy.

    Oh well.......
