Me too and I also hope they give him enough of a chance. I checked out his stats and he really has nothing left to do in the minors. In over 800 AA/AAA ABs he's hitting well over .300. If not now when? Especially when you have sub .200 hitting options at second. We're just going to have to live with some errors because he's certainly not going to be the glove Drew is over there.
i understand i will get blasted for this around here but damn robbie was the best at second i have ever watched. i loved sandberg for the cubs growing up around this place but robbie was so smooth and a beast with the bat. i still think he ends up in the hall if he stays with the yanks but the guy chose the $. most of us would do the same if given the chance in our professions.
...unless he does something incredible, Refsnyder's call up will likely be a brief 2 game visit...the reason he's getting a chance is because the Yanx will be facing 2 LHers in a row Saturday (Rodriguez) and Sunday. (Miley) ...so again, Refsnyder will be with the Yanx for just a 2 game "platoon" cameo appearance. But if he does well I hope they find a way to keep him on the roster.
They might keep Drew around as the backup SS/2b for at least the rest of the season if Refsnyder stays.
In reading last nights game recap there is a short blurb of Drew commenting that it will be nice to see Refsnyder up. Very interesting comment knowing there's a possibility that Refsnyder may well be his replacement.
Hear me out on this one but first let me make something clear regarding Drew. I DID understand the Yanks line of thinking when they signed him...they were hoping with a timely full ST he may give them maybe .235- .245 or so with double digit HRs. I was willing to give him the first two months (along with CC) before pulling the plug. And I was always in favor and expecting the Yanks to eventually call up Refsnyder after the first couple of months of Drew failure and it's no secret the Yanks thought he needed more "reps" on defense and they may have been correct. Glad he's finally here. Back to the Drew thing. Just out of curiosity, how much difference is there between a .230-.240 2b with little power, low OBP- and a guy batting .180 on pace for at least 20 HRs?..... And I am NOT referring to Refsnyder... This is just a question comparing Drew with a basic ".230-.240 2b with little power".
...don't know who'd want him but I wonder if maybe Drew might get traded by the deadline...as a late inning defensive replacement, he still serves a purpose...just not on the Yanx... ...love to see Refsnyder stick.
