It's official- Reggie Miller, one of the best players around, will retire after this season. He was a great player, awesome three point shooter, and is known for his devotion to the Indiana Pacers. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">AUBURN HILLS, Mich- Reggie Miller of the Indiana Pacers will retire at the end of this season, his sister, Cheryl, reported Thursday night on TNT. "Over the last couple of weeks there has been a lot of speculation on whether or not this will be Reggie Miller's last season," Cheryl Miller said. "Yesterday I spoke to Reggie, and after 18 seasons with the Indiana Pacers, this will definitely be his last season." Miller, 39, has been one of the league's best outside shooters during a career that has included five All-Star appearances, 131 playoff games and a trip to the NBA Finals. He helped transform the Pacers from one of the NBA's worst teams into one of its most consistent.</div> Link He was a great player, and is one of my all time favorites. Anyway, any ideas or thoughts about the future of the Pacers or of his retirement?
It's sad to see Reggie leaving. We'll all remember his performence against the Knicks though? The Pacers are going to suffer from this loss. They won't have a player that draws the defenses attention on the perimeter. This will make it harder on Jermaine. Teams will double him in the post and won't have to worry about the shot on the perimeter. Reggie deserves to be in the Hall of Fame when he's eligable.

It seems just like yesterday he was out hitting crushing three pointers against my beloved Knicks and making me cry. But now he's getting ready to hang it up. I have mixed emotions about this. Despite the fact he built his career on the hopes and dreams of Knick fans and dashed Ewing's championship hopes I will miss those great battles. On the other hand he gets to retire without a ring( ) just like our hero Ewing and it serves him right. I will never have to worry about "Miller Time" ever again. The Pacers wont have the same mystique they used to have when he's gone. With Reggie on the court no lead was safe, no deficiet too large to overcome. They'll of course be losing a valuable veteran with tons of experience as well. But that's all they'll be losing. The Pacers were already moving on. He's no longer the focal point of their offense and they even have his replacement, Stephen Jackson, to spread the floor so O'neal doesn't get constantly double teamed in the post. Anyway I tip my hat off to a hated but worthy foe. I am going to miss him.
