http://sports.yahoo.com/news/reinsdorf-recommends-selling-white-sox-000728626--mlb.html CHICAGO (AP) -- The Chicago White Sox confirm a report that chairman Jerry Reinsdorf has recommended a family succession plan that includes selling its interest in the franchise. The team says in a statement released Tuesday that while he has recommended putting the club up for sale ''once he is no longer with us,'' all plans are ''fluid'' and ''ultimately will depend on timing and other circumstances.'' The White Sox also say he has no plans to sell the team anytime soon. The 77-year-old Reinsdorf is the chairman of the White Sox and Chicago Bulls. He told the Sports Business Journal that the plan he has recommended to his sons calls for the family relinquishing its stake in the White Sox while maintaining control of the Bulls.
So this is the 2nd interview I've read in the past 2-3 seasons where he talks about leaving the Bulls to his kids so they can live off the $millions in cash the team sheds in profit. Why aren't the White Sox equally profitable? Because the man loves baseball, doesn't give a shit about basketball - only the profits from the team. When it comes to the baseball team, he'll sacrifice some of the profit to try and win. He's really motivated to win.
The White Sox have the 8th-highest payroll in MLB. The Bulls have the 5th-highest payroll in the NBA. Sure hope Reinsdorf doesn't find out.
This is the only time in memory the Bulls have had the 5th highest payroll in the NBA. Can you find a single article where he's said he'd pay for a winner when it comes to the Sox?
I like history too, but now is most important. No and it's not important enough for me to spend time looking. Give me something that matters.
Now is "oops, we couldn't dump Rip for nothing." The man is a baseball fan. He sits in his box seat at all the Sox home games. Why doesn't he want his family to retain ownership of the Sox, the team he has passion for?
