To say 2015 has sucked would be an understatement. My Ducks lost the Natty and our Blazers have lost nine of their last 13, including the most gut-wrenching loss imaginable tonight in Dallas. So, my question is: How do you get over the losses? I try not to let it impact my day, but I ride and die with this team, so it can be challenging at times, especially these last two years when the games have meant so much more than they previously had. One thing's for sure: I turn off the television. No SportsCenter. No nothing. Sometimes I'll go straight to bed, but on night's like tonight when it was an early tip and also the weekend, going to sleep's not an option. Tonight's loss was so bad that working seemed like a great option ...
I rant for everyone to read and then the next night am as cool as collect as anyone until the Blazers make me rant again.
This must have been a common occurrence for you based off your avatar with all the Blazer losses, Ducks losing and Hawks losing.
Imagine if the Blazers lost the championship this year, that would be a trifecta of epic proportions! I'm glad I hate the Seahawks, so at least got a little bit of satisfaction from that. Hey, if you didn't get emotionally involved in the game, it would be incredibly boring. But once it's over, remember it's just a bunch of guys running around trying to put a ball through an iron hoop....it's utterly meaningless. It doesn't matter if they win or lose. It's like playing a computer game, you want to win, but when the game is over, who cares. But of course, losing in this manner is not really entertaining or rewarding, it just sucks.
Last year, we took a long dive mid season, going only 14-18 over a long stretch. I was MISERABLE. It was so painful and looked like we wouldn't even make it to the playoffs. But then we did make the playoffs and even though the games were close, we owned the Rockets. They couldn't stop either of our stars. It was only Lillard's first playoffs and he made it out of the first round. The team showed it had what it took to win when it matters. Showed me that they are mentally tough. Yes, we lost to Spurs but the Spurs were on FIRE and no one could stop them.. So THIS year, I'm not gonna freak out over a game in February when the team has shown me they can win big games in April and May. In the moment, I focus on all the positives. Right now: 1) 5th best record in NBA 2) Way better than hated Lakers and Thunder (who have struggled when they should've been making up ground) 3) CJ has played 2 games in a row where he looks like he belongs. 4) Lillard has broken out of his three point shooting slump 5) Aldridge is playing at an MVP level with a bad thumb 6) Lopez is healthy and playing well. 7) The next game is against a team in front of us. Let's get them and the Lakets and enjoy the time off.
another thing i will sometimes do is go play a game of 2k and squash whatever team we lost too with the blazers. then it makes me think we won that night, but then i end up going to nba.com and see we still lost.
If we make it to NBA Finals and lose at the buzzer of Game 7, that would suck but you HAVE to be happy with making it that far.
Jokes, make lots of jokes. After growing up as a Beaver and Blazer fan I just have to laugh at the epic fails. Lets you appreciate the wins that much more.
After tonights' loss, I just don't see us getting amped for the game tomorrow. This one could send us into a tailspin. It probably won't, with thankfully the ASG coming up. But I blame no one for having trepidation about this season. Our only peaks have really been against inferior competition, I can't recall too many solid wins aside from the SAS, NO, and OKC games. It's a skiddish time, to be sure. I don't blame people for trying to stay positive, and I don't blame people for being negative. The team is just too influx to really feel safe with them.
We beat Dallas, Washington, Cleveland, Chicago, and Toronto too. Our team is tough. They won't crumble over one loss.
