I keep seeing rumors on hoopshype about nene possibly going to the nuggets for maybe a lottery pick, some cash and an expiring contract. Personally I would love to see this happen I was wondering what you thought and if you think it's got a reasonable shot of being done.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Can anyone say Nene? The Bulls long have eyed the underutilized, physical, 6-foot-11-inch, 265-pound power forward. He almost certainly won't get an extension with the Nuggets. Especially with the agent for Carmelo Anthony telling a Denver newspaper it's "a no-brainer" Anthony will ask for a maximum extension starting at $12 million annually. It's hard to believe the Nuggets could turn down a possible lottery pick and maybe some cash and an expiring contract like Eric Piatkowski's thrown in for a player they can't afford and could lose for nothing. Others in that class without extensions include Cleveland's Drew Gooden, Golden State's Mike Dunleavy, Washington's Caron Butler and Jared Jeffries and Detroit's Tayshaun Price, who is close to a deal with the Pistons. Also not extended is Clippers power forward Chris Wilcox, who might be worth the risk.</div> <div align="center">Source</div> Like I have said on this board already I am a huge Nene fan due to being Brazilian I have followed his career for a longer time than others. However, how will it work out in the power forward rotation how will we split time between him and Sweetney? A combo of the two would undoubtedly be deadly, but would they begin to fight about playing time as the season progressed? I feel like Sweetney has shown us this off season he is a capable starter. To bring in Nene right now, and give him the starting power forward spot, essentially, would be wrong.
I don't believe these rumors, until I see Ben Gordon's name being sent to Denver. The Nuggets once turned down Michael Redd for Nene, so they are very high Nene's potential. You just don't give up big men in the league with his talent, especially with the health issues of Camby and KMart. I watched Nene play the other night against the Lakers, you can tell he worked hard on getting in shape. The Nuggets will shop around their other players before they decide to pull the trigger on Nene.
