Republican Rick Perry, struggling to raise money and languishing near the bottom in presidential opinion polls, said on Friday he will drop out of the 2016 White House race. Perry, the former Texas governor, was excluded from the first two prime-time Republican debates and had been forced to stop paying many members of his campaign staff recently after his campaign funds ran low.
