<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Popeye Jones remembers it well. He was in a van along with other Warriors veterans heading to their first day of practice in Hawaii, when Clifford Robinson spoke up.

"All the vets had come in together on that bus," Jones said. "The first comment Cliff made, he said, 'I've never been home in April.' On that bus, we made a pact -- the veterans -- to be in the playoffs. Obviously, injuries spoiled that."

Injuries and a failing to come together, according to others. The Warriors (25-36), who play at Sacramento tonight, have begun another meaningless March -- not to mention April. They are likely to miss the playoffs for a league-high 10th consecutive season.</div>

    Give an example, besides Denver.

Haha, I just feel that all the talk about the could be's and should be's is just all BS. It seems that every team blames bad seasons on injuries.

You would have to be pretty ignorant to say that the Warriors would not have been in the thick of the playoff race had they been healthy. When you lose half of your team to injuries during the year you have a right to use that excuse IMO.

Here's a question: Do you think if the Warriors got the #1 overall pick instead of the Rockets in 2002, they'd go for Yao?

Well injuries can play a damaging part to any team, especially if they aren't that deep. The warriors in some positions aren't as deep, especially in the center position (two centers injured), the power forward position (two power forwards injured) and now two of our point guards are injured at the same time. Sure the Warriors were deep enough to hold the score in some games, but sometimes its not enough because you need your key players out there on the floor. I think the Warriors have absolutely missed a healthy NVE and Troy Murphy. At least Foyle coming back has been godsend. I didn't think he was coming back at all.

I think of myself as a Warriors fan. However, I have never been fond of any of the moves the Warriors made the past offseason. I can't say I was intrigued by the Warriors coming season, especially with at least 8 teams ahead of them in the Western Conference in terms of talent level. Sure, the Warriors would be part of the race for the 7th and 8th spot, but getting one will be hard.

Had the Warriors had the number 1 pick, Yao would definitely have been chosen, but as I told you many times Custodian, the Warriors never did, so stop drooling, again. :P

Haha, I erased the previous post about Yao because it was kind of falling out of topic. I can understand your frustration of the offseason moves. I just hope the salary cap moves and everything coming off the books in 2005 means that Cohan will have sold the team by then.

I didn't agree with all of the moves this past offseason either but you can't blame the front office for injuries. NVE hasn't been healthy for the entire season. Troy Murphy has only played in a few games in which he was hurt. Foyle missed the entire first half of the season. Claxton has been injured off and on and is now on the IL. Evan is out of the season. Who am I missing?

Claxton started out fine but then had shoulder problems, hand problem or a knee problem or something affecting his speed and ballhandling until Musselman limited his minutes to 10 a night. Then NVE was out at the start of the season, came back in, was playing at 50% all season and then went back out. Now Claxton fractured his hand. Jrich, Pietrus, Dunleavy all jacked up their ankles.

To me, the injuries were a blessing in disguise, designed to help the Warriors future. Had the Warriors had a full lineup, would Brian Cardinal be discovered? Would Speedy Claxton improve by leaps and bounds. Finally, would the Warriors have Dampier averaging the double-double?

I wouldn't. The future is more important than the present. To me at least.

I hear your pain, but ever since I became a Warriors fan, them being in the playoffs would look weird to me. Since you never look for them in the upper half of the standings.

The warriors were predicted to be the 8th seed this year, but that was based on last year's standings and the fact nobody thought the Nuggets/Jazz would be good. We almost took it away from the rockets/suns last year with that huge win streak after all star break.
