<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Club officials will change the roster in hopes of going further than the Western Conference finals. Gone will be Jake Voskuhl and Paul Shirley. Fan favorite Bo Outlaw could be following them out the door, as might veteran Walter McCarty.

The nucleus likely will remain intact. Most importantly, the Suns are expected to sign Amar? Stoudemire to a maximum six-year contract extension and match any offer for Joe Johnson, who is a restricted free agent. They?ll try to add size on the bench. One thing?s for sure: There never will be an exact duplicate for this team.

Leandro Barbosa: Disappointing first half, then came on strong only to appear rattled in the playoffs. The Suns will exercise the fourthyear option on him during the offseason, meaning he?ll be locked up for two more years. His successful development would give the Suns more depth come playoff time.

Steven Hunter: He?s inconsistent, but he gives the Suns badly needed interior defense.

He can exercise an option to play at his current salary of $720,000. He?s reluctant to do this because he figures he?s worth more. But he also wants to stick with the Suns.

The Suns probably are willing to give him somewhat more but are not expected to get in a big bidding war for him.

Jim Jackson: Sixth man acquired from Hornets was up and down during the regular season?s final months but was absolutely golden vs. Mavericks, when he was pressed into starter?s duties. Has enough size and experience that he doesn?t hurt defensively. Has one more season left on his contract.

Walter McCarty: Forward?s contract is expiring. The Suns acquired him in midseason when he agreed to drop his player option for next season. Old pro helped in the regular season but not in the playoffs. His spot may be taken by a less expensive (and experienced) player as the club counts pennies so it can make room for new contracts expected to go to Amar? Stoudemire and Joe Johnson.

Bo Outlaw: Popular reserve?s contract is expiring, so he likely will be departing, as the Suns will look for more size on the bench. The Suns acquired him early in the season thinking he?d get time. But as the run-and-shoot style began to succeed, Outlaw?s prospects for time faded.

But he enjoyed the ride and got along great with teammates, especially Amar? Stoudemire.

Paul Shirley: Known most for his writing, as he chronicled the club?s doings online. Rarely got to play, but he?ll never hurt anyone as a 12th man. The Suns won?t exercise an option on his contract to bring him back next season. Best bet is he heads to Europe.
