<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>With an eye toward bolstering the team's depth along the perimeter, the Pistons have been in contact with several free-agent swingmen around the league -- including a former player, Carlos Delfino.

The NBA's free-agency signing period begins today, but the Pistons will not be in the market for big names, such as power forward Elton Brand. Instead, the team is looking for depth behind small forward Tayshaun Prince or shooting guard Rip Hamilton.

A team source said Tuesday the Pistons have talked to Delfino, whom the Pistons traded to Toronto in 2007 for draft picks after he had three years of inconsistent play and minutes.

He was the second first-round selection of the Pistons in 2003 -- the year Darko Milicic was taken second overall.

Delfino, a 6-foot-6 forward from Argentina, averaged nine points per game in 82 games for the Raptors last season. A restricted free agent, he received a qualifying offer from the Raptors in June, which means Toronto would have the right to match any offer he gets.

But the Raptors have a glut of swingmen and might be reluctant to match.</div>
